I'll preface this post with a little back story on my gaming history. I'm 31 years old and fell in love with video games on Christmas Day of '89. My parents purchased our family an NES with Mario Bros., Tetris, and Rad Racer. I was so immersed from the very start. Since then I have owned just about every console that has come to market.
Over the years my preference in games has changed many times. I loved those first NES games, but later moved on to NBA Jam and Ken Griffey's RBI Baseball with friends on Suer NES. Twisted Metal on the Playstation. Then came Goldeneye on the N64. My views on gaming would never be the same. Halo will forever hold a place in my heart. First person shooters are my absolute favorite.
Fast forward to current day, and I'm a middle-aged father and husband. I work 60 hours a week in a managerial role within the pharmaceutical industry. Games had begun to take a back seat to "life". I didn't seem to find myself turning on my playstation or xbox very often. Then came Destiny!
In the last 5 years I've put less time into video games collectively, than I have Destiny in the last 5 weeks.
I made my very first PSN "friend" after joining this forum.
I've recently purchased a headset and mic.
I've scheduled time with my wife to be free to do the raid, weeklies, nightfall, etc. each Tuesday evening and Saturday morning.
I've learned what an mmo and rpg are all about.
I now know what "nerf", "buff", "cheese" and many other acronyms stand for.
I've found new love in something that was so special to me as a child.
And I gained all of this from Destiny, by way of Bungie. I too can point out several flaws within the game (lack of story, repetitive grind, limited social interaction), and hope that over time they will be addressed. However, in the meantime I'm having a BLAST playing, making new friends and memories!
BUMP!
-
Just to say "BUMP". I am 39 and have been playing games for years, was a X user for a long time solely because of the racing sim. Got to the point of hardly playing and then the next gen console came out and I was back at it and even beta tested for a bit. For reasons unsaid the X folks really tilted the head the wrong way and me and all of my brothers traded same day for the PS4. Yes I am a die hard racing sim guy (anxiously awaiting Project Cars) never was a FPS much, didn't like Halo at all, etc. But one day co worker friend convinced me to join his clan on COD and there we went. Then convinced me to get Destiny and I was taught all about the MMO experience etc. (Implying this is a mixture of MMO, RPG and a FPS :)-) I was hooked and still am, I actually have a game besides racing which can keep me interested for hours. I laughed cause I have to schedule time with the wife too. But I am having fun and hope others out there are to, I am sure the malcontented folks commenting aren't the majority holders here, least I hope so. Hit me up anytime you wanna play, my schedule is flexible. Same goes to the rest of the positive gamers who have responded to your post!! PS4 gamer tag: TVRacing331 Thanks again sir!!

Destiny is an MMO...
-
Edited by Tu Chocolate Caliente: 10/31/2014 12:02:27 AMDestiny is not an mmo. Have you ever played one?
-
Runescape, Star Wars The Old Republic, Diablo 3, Path of Exile and various others I have forgotten the names to. Destiny is an MMO.
-
Except those games are drastically different from derptiny. Even Bungie told us that Destiny is not an MMO, is a shared world shooter but you desticles won't care anyway and keep telling themselves it is. So yea keep being a pleb.
-
You are a sad person. Destiny is played by many, is multiplayer and is online. Are you so ignorant that you don't even know this? Bungie claim that their game isn't an MMO despite all evidence pointing towards the fact that it is. It's An MMO, stop being a "pleb" (which is a douchebag word by the way) and stop being a close minded twat.

Everyone that sees Ultrons comment: This is what happens when you allow your idiocy to get the better of you. You be a douchebag, you get proven wrong, you have nothing to comeback with so you just try and be smart on spot but look like a desperate idiot. Lesson learned: The bigger the hater, the stupider they are.

-
Because you clearly know you are wrong and are, like you said, too butthurt to admit it. But if you want to forget that you failed, I can do that.

Edited by Tu Chocolate Caliente: 10/31/2014 3:38:22 PMSilentninja plz, just let it go.
-
Let what go? You are the individual afraid to admit defeat, I merely just wish you could admit it and move on. Meanwhile I'm playing Destiny the MMO waiting for you.

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight Not a footprint to be seen. A kingdom of isolation, and it looks like I'm the Queen The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside Couldn't keep it in; Heaven knows I've tried Don't let them in, don't let them see Be the good girl you always have to be Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know Well now they know Let it go, let it go Can't hold it back anymore Let it go, let it go Turn away and slam the door I don't care what they're going to say Let the storm rage on. The cold never bothered me anyway It's funny how some distance Makes everything seem small And the fears that once controlled me Can't get to me at all It's time to see what I can do To test the limits and break through No right, no wrong, no rules for me, I'm free! Let it go, let it go I am one with the wind and sky Let it go, let it go You'll never see me cry Here I stand And here I'll stay Let the storm rage on My power flurries through the air into the ground My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast I'm never going back, the past is in the past Let it go, let it go And I'll rise like the break of dawn Let it go, let it go That perfect girl is gone Here I stand In the light of day Let the storm rage on The cold never bothered me anyway!
-
Still can't admit you are crying inside huh? Well when you can I'll be willing to acknowledge it and move on :)

Its Good to see another who looks for the good before the bad, if people do that they would live happier lives
-
I would like to say thank you for this comment. I feel the same way about the game. I love it and have been having fun with it.
