It is a great idea, and has been brought up by many brilliant minds such as your own. Bravo!
But the Grimoire cards serve a specific purpose - to drive traffic to Bungie.net, where you can encounter the society of Bungie fans in the forums. A clever marketing ploy, yes?

Yes very much so. I did not even know about Bungie's website until this game and the cards.
