A musical career can be ascertained without assimilating yourself into a faux cult organization where you limit your circle of friends and define yourself by your hobby. I live in a town where everyone is pursuing a career in music and some of them have become famous (Pretty Lights is a good example), and not a single one of them were in high school marching band.
