Edit: Before you read, please note that this is not a comparison of games, but a comparison of $/content value. TO ALL THE HATERS: Most of us come from a FPS background in either COD, Battlefield, or Halo. And it seems there is a lot of us on here slamming Bungie, but can we please BACK THE CRAZY TRAIN UP?!!! I, myself, have been a COD person, so I'm going to speak specifically from that point of view Let's look at the facts before drawing some conclusions: 1. Call of Duty games launch with around 10-11 multiplayer maps, then charges a fee for DLC (usually around $15) that includes around five more maps. There are four of these DLCs in a "season". This DLC has no other content then those five maps and then maybe a new weapon - Destiny launched with 11 multiplayer maps and the first DLC will introduce 3 more maps to the Crucible 2. Call of Duty games generally have an entertaining campaign mode that takes about 6 hours to complete. You are solo on this campaign. - Destiny launched with a "campaign" mode that takes at least twice as long as a Call of Duty campaign, and can be played with up to two other friends if you want. You can always play it solo if you choose. These campaigns do repeatedly start you in the same world over and over again, but take you through different parts of that world to defeat different bosses. 3. Call of Duty puts in tons of micro transactions for character customizations, voice commentators, weapon skins, etc. that you pay real money to access - SO FAR, Destiny doesn't make you pay any more for such customizations. There are tons of options already available. 4. Call of Duty's DLC includes only 5 multiplayer maps and maybe a gun for $15 - Destiny's DLC includes 3 multiplayer maps, a host of new weapons and armors, new drop items, a new raid, new missions and strikes, new shaders and it costs only $5 more. So, let's add all this up: CALL OF DUTY - For a $60 game, and $40 of DLC ($60 if you don't buy the season pass) I get: - Around 30 multiplayer maps, a 6hr campaign, some other kind of co-op mode that usually few people touch, a couple of added weapons, a number of looks (though your armor/camo/ghillie suit play no role in actually preventing damage), and that about sums it up DESTINY - $60 game, $35 for DLC ($40 if you don't buy expansion pass): NOTE - I'm going to estimate based on what we know of The Dark Below and apply it to the House of Wolves DLC - 16 Crucible maps, an estimated 24-30hr campaign that can be played solo or with a small team, about 12-15 new weapons, 8-10 new armors (that actually do something besides aesthetics), three 6-player co-op Raid missions, multiple in-game currencies, a grimoire packed with story content (albeit very few people read, but it's more than COD has going for it), and that about sums it up. My question is this; WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE WANT???? Destiny offers so much more content then Call of Duty or Battlefield, or even any of the Halo games. You may not like the story as much (agreed, it was extremely lacking), but there is a ton in this game, the gameplay is tight, and for less money then what I pay in a year on Call of Duty I feel like I'm getting more content. I'm on Playstation, so an Xbox user may feel differently, but let's admit that for a new IP, this game has a ton going on. CAN I GET A WITNESS?!

 • I haven't completed a campaign since black ops and I didn't play it for a year after it came out. Basically I got bored. So far I've put nearly 200 hours into destiny, and actually playing pvp, takes a lot to keep me entertained.

 • Thanks to clan wars and multi player ... Let's be honest the multiplayer on here is dry and repetitive.... No map voting etc. I miss when multiplayer was about skill and prestige rewards etc but as I said the main issues I have with destiny are with what I believe to be activision forcing them to put $$ first

 • I agree with what your saying but i think alot of people are disappointed because of the huge load of false advertising bungie dumped on us. It may have been premature to expect destiny to be a cross between halo, skyrim, and the classic mmo genre instead its none of these. I really enjoyed the game and spent alot of time on it but for me when i stopped i was pretty disappointed because destiny just never struck me as impactful. Its not the kind of game like half life 2 or fallout 3, excuse my comparison, where literally thousands of people demand the sequal to be released. I was completely unsastisfied with the ending. Bungie usually does a great job with endings just look at the past few halos (excluding halo 4 of course). Also cod doesnt false advertise to the extent of destiny (this statement of course excludes cod ghosts). So i do agree with your saying but i feel so many people are disappointed due to huge overhyping and advertising plus justifiable expectations.

 • Oh yeah bumb that. However I believe that they can pull out of this mess with just a little extra work and deciding to put customers and not profit first.

 • I don't mean to be rude, but that's not a very good comparison. CoD has historically bad campaigns that are very short. Not only that, but with CoD you have campaign mode, zombies mode, a diverse multiplayer and the ability for custom games. Many microtransaction items for CoD are free. Most of them, actually. The map packs for CoD give you four maps and a new zombies mode. Those maps can be played in any of the dozen or more modes and in custom lobbies. Zombies is different between maps. Lastly, all CoD expansions have been know to be very expensive. Halo had an amazing campaign mode that could be replayed with modifiers. Halo had an even more diverse multiplayer, massive potential for custom games, the forge, and firefight. The expansions gave you roughly four maps for almost half of what CoD expansions cost. These maps were playable in forge, online, and custom. I'm sure they even had firefight expansions included, but I can't remember. Players were customizable without buying but could not gain anything extra through purchase. Destiny uses its campaign as its source of multiplayer and doesn't have custom gaming, which makes more maps almost useless on its five total PvP game modes. The actual campaign is finished within the same time as a halo campaign (more missions but they're shorter each). The content of destiny is truly mediocre, as replaying old content is the same for any game. You can very easily replay CoD or Halo campaigns and reach the same effect. Except those games don't employ it as part of their advancement and also include interesting Easter Eggs. The "open world" aspect of Destiny is equivalent to the first Fable, as there are many differently styled general areas and each is linear and pocked with points of interest and travel routes. To compare these things, taking all of the games into effect, we see that the DLC is still not worth it. The original game is incomplete. I agree that it is a very pretty mosaic of different game styles, but each aspect destroys it further. Phone on 2%. Posting maybe not done?

 • My point is this we should not be charged extra for part of the game that was promised and not released the comparison has to do with them charging 10 $ here and 20$ there its ridiculous to say the least

 • Phone up to 4%! I agree. I don't believe the base game is even near complete. 200 hours of nothing doesn't even equal 20 hours of fun. I don't think enough people understand that.

 • So we get 1 strike 1 raid, 3 story missions and 3 multiplayer maps. That was cut from the game and we are paying $20.00 more for this? This was already finished prior to launch, the way you treat your community, your loyal fans is disgusting. This should of already been included in the game.
