We were exoecting hours of cutscenes, faction wars, and content that would make this like mass effect or skyrim. Instead we get a standard meh dlc.
Have you read the post on redditt where allegedly some people in the studio thought there was too much story for people with short attention spans? Hence the lead wrter left and they cut out hours of cutscenes from the game.
The factions were supposed to be properly introduced with cutscenes and actually tied to the main storyline. All of that was cut. In the game currently, they're meaningless.

Everyone I know skips cutscenes so we can get back to the fun stuff. This game seems built around fun gameplay and awesome mechanics. I sure as hell didn't buy this game for the story. Story games are one and done. One playthrough, and it's over. I'm so glad Destiny wasn't one of those games.

It could have been both. Great story, followed by fun endgame grind

Well I wouldn't have complained if that were the case. But I'm not complaining now either, because the end game is fun enough for me. But, yes I agree, story AND everything else the game has to offer would have been cool. Just not as necessary as some people seem to think.
