It is their game, not ours. Obviously there was some sort of decision made in which a totally random loot system was decided upon. Likely it was put into place because of the lottery-effect. You feel as though you have a chance to win, and therefore feel compelled to play more. Although a very annoying choice of system, it is extremely effective at keeping people glued to their tv's. And although level 20 can take 8 hours, it likely will take more for the majority of the players, and there is much much more end content available.
Yes, the game is a grind. But I have had fun grinding away.

Edited by Yoshihito: 10/31/2014 7:53:15 AMThe problem with an RNG system is that it only works well in a system that includes trading. It is unrealistic that anyone will ever get all the items they desire. That's where trading comes in. People can get the items they want the most more efficiently because other people don't want it yet they got it anyways.

Also you said you've played over 300 hrs. Your profile says differently. Do you play on another account? I'm over 260 hrs with just my Hunter and Warlock.

I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the grind I'm an mmoplayer it's all you do really. What I'm saying is that you can blow through the content in no time if you don't dick around. The only reason to sink more than 30 hrs is a you enjoy the grind, b you've been unlucky, c you enjoy pvp, or d you hope that they actually do something productive eventually and you want to be ready for it when it happens. I was more in the d category minus the boots from the raid and my desire to collect all exotics but that's more of the completitionist in me. Everything's maxed out fully upgraded so I'll probably be doing less time in the game now that I know the Dlc has nothing to offer but a new raid really 3 story missions. I'll however be enjoying fc4 which if it's as good as 3 destiny will lose a good 120hrs there not to mention inquisition. And for the pvpers theres cod aw which hits this month I expect this Dlc will primarily only be bought by a. Those that got it with the game originally or b. Those who can't afford another 40 for 10x the content or greater.
