Problem here is that its mentioned on a PlayStation forum, where most Xbox players most likely would have little reason to venture to. So yes this is pretty new information for most Xbox users. Also to note, its an EU forum too where most US gamers in general do not go to either.

I am mostly a xbox gamer. I've know play station was getting Destiny exclusive content from well before its release. This is why I bought Destiny for PS4 and not my Xbox One and it's the reason I will get Advanced Warfare on Xbox one.
