For multiple times today I have been getting kicked to the title screen with a message telling me that I have been disconnected from the Destiny servers. I was playing the Crucible collecting kills for an exotic bounty for most of the morning. It wasn't that big of a deal then because I could just re-search for a game. After a little while, I finished that part of the bounty and went on to the next and final step, which required me to kill Xyor the Unwed in The Summoning Pits at level 26.
I eventually soloed my way to the end boss. I was making good progress until I was abruptly kicked. While this annoyed me, I was hoping that if I re-selected the level it would take me to that last checkpoint or something. But nope. It started me right at the beginning. I couldn't help but feel like I wasted all of that time for nothing.
So I ask, why are the servers suddenly having so many issues? At launch, they were running fine. No lag and no disconnects. It isn't just me, because I've been reading the same complaints and hearing the same issues from friends. At least let the servers or something save level progress in case of such disconnects. It's very discouraging to just get booted out and to have all of that progress lost.
I'm sure most of you will say, "Well, just do it again". The thing is, I will. But keep in mind, it shouldn't have to be like this. This goes back to the issue of always online and server dependent games. There has to be some progress back-up or some kind of fail-safe in case something like this happens.
I'm not trying to hate or sound entitled here. I am only offering my feedback and throwing my voice into this issue. These server dependent (or cloud based) games are likely the future of gaming and issues like this need to be smoothed out first before it becomes a standard.
