For cod, dlcs don't offer much in the way of advancement, it's literally just extra content. For destiny, you will have to pay for this to get to level 32, and I'm assuming the same for the house of wolves expansion. This will also give you new exotics definitely better than the current ones, except a select few which will be nerfed soon enough.
