I think they are due for a buff and a big one. One hit kill type of buff (in the head). I mean c'mon, if your a hunter you know out of 10 throws, probably 2 or 3 depending on your skill will hit the target. And when it does, you excpect a kill, not almost dead but not. Just saying, if it takes skill, it should get the kill.

If your hitting 3 out of ten then I'm worried for you...

Edited by MisterBlueWins: 11/1/2014 11:28:44 PMDude the throwing knife is gigantic it seems. Almost every hit seems to hit in the head and its perfect for when you're in a fire fight and run out of ammo. I love it and use the one for the toughness buff just because
-
I just wish it counted towards the bounty ffs.
-
I agree it's precision damage should be increased to kill, leave body damage the way it is.
-
Just do stuff like this :)
-
It's fine it's got range and does a wedge of damage already.

-
I just wish it was thrown faster. This thing seems to move through the air really slow.

Edited by iAmE: 11/2/2014 1:22:02 AMSo, the melee that does average damage to the body, and the second highest damage if you hit them in the head, that also has the farthest range of any melee ability, needs a buff? Why, exactly? Sunsinger does 135? damage, and grants a 55 shield, at a 6 meter range, and 1 shots during the super (Which if they use it to revive, it is the only super that actually is only gives the person +25 points, because you killed them once and got the points for said kill). Titan Shoulder Charges are an ohko and have a build up, and shorter range, however they're more effective when turning corners. There's literally no justification for the buff, and less then no reason to. Gunslingers marginally below average jumps are balanced by the fact that they have the best melee and the best super when used correctly. Bladedancers have a great melee ability, great jump, to balance their mediocre super. Same way sunsinger has a great melee and great grenades to balance out their mediocre super.
-
Melee attacks aren't meant to be your main weapon. I myself rarely miss with my throwing knife, and do you know what havoc I would wreak? One of the abilities gives two knives, and another resets the cooldown when you kill any enemy via precision damage. I would just walk around throwing my knife everywhere, non stop. The reason they don't do 1-shot kills is because they can be used from a distance.
-
How does it take skill to toss a object through the air? Let the comments roll in.
-
johnnie cochran over here: 'It it takes the skill, it should get the kill'
-
I use gamblers knife/the precision kill new knife combo, and I can clear a room of thralls/dregs, or acolytes/vandals no problem. I think I can down the legionaries too, but I have problems hitting vex in the belly.
-
If they are buffing throwing knife. They better nerf hunter super. Because it will be unbalanced withh al the op skill set
-
Agree, it's half of the classes ability and compare it to any other melee attack option. Plus the slowest cool down that I've noticed.
-
It should be a OHK to the face ONLY with the incendiary burn upgrade
-
Don't know what you are talking about. When I use the throwing knife I rarely miss unless its at extreme range. Its not meant as a one hit kill. Rather as a means to finish a crippled enemy, among other things. Great for following up on a shoot out where you ran out of bullets before dropping the target for example.

Edited by mrwazzabi: 11/1/2014 10:52:51 PMYou're supposed to use it as a burst fire finisher. Shoot him with a few rounds then throw the knife. Win! For pve, it does need a buff though.
-
I agree that headshots with the throwing knife should be a one hit KO. Otherwise it should deal about the same amount of damage as it does now. It takes a fair amount of skill to land a hit on a player with the knife, let alone at range or to the head.
-
Eh, yeah. Throwing knife and a melee attack is still a very quick kill. Not opposed to a buff, ohk may be a little op? Personally I think it's ok the way it is. Throw the knife, and a quick burst or melee attack to finish them off, lots of fun!
-
No better feeling than softening them up with bullets then finish with a knife to the face....
-
Edited by Robnkils: 11/1/2014 10:04:40 PMit's not too hard to get one shot on them before/after throwing your knife... I really don't think a buff is necessary. it's practically already buffed compared to other melees because of its extended range. it's also not too hard to hit their head- it's just more delayed than a bullet would be.
-
I think it's fine as is. You can set burn modifier to them and to be fair it's kind of a troll way to kill somebody. I typically do this by accident trying to evade a titan fist or something and whammo...knife to the face. They are also fun to toss randomly at teammates just to see the knife sticking out of them but I digress.
-
Yeah body damage is fine but it should 1 shot headshot. Bye bye shoulder charging titans!
-
OP try aiming for the head...
-
When I use the throwing knife I get maybe an 8 out of 10 in terms of accuracy. It's actually very clever in it's construction and once you get a precision hit with it it usually is a one hit ko. I don't think it needs a buff. Every class has a weak spot and if this is ours I don't mind it is something that gets extremely strong with practice.
