Level 30 is not supposed to be an easy thing to get to. You should not be able to buy gear that will get you to the max cap, otherwise it takes away from the game, it makes it cheap and easy to get to the highest level of Destiny. I just hit 30 the other week and it's only because I've poured a lot of time and work in the game, I've felt accomplished because of it and I was a little irritated that they're now going to allow you to get to 30 with iron banner gear. It's supposed to be a challenge, it's not supposed to be easy to hit the max level, and the raid is the hardest challenge in the game so it's only right that the gear you get there is the only way to get to 30. That is all

  • It seems to me like the hardest thing about the VoG is getting a 6 man fireteam together. How is spending a week in the Iron Banner event and going up against lvl. 30 guardians to get a high enough rank to buy lvl. 30 gear so much easier than the raid. I realize that the raid is difficult and requires strategy but there are players who haven't done raids but have worked hard to get the items that they do have. Also, the raid, weekly strikes and nightfall strikes exclude a lot of people because if you don't know five other people it's basically impossible to get a fireteam together without matchmaking or a general chat function.

  • I understand what you're saying, and for how long the process is to buy the gear in the iron banner and how you still have to go through the raid still to get to 30, it isn't as easy as I thought it was. As far as finding other people, look around, there are a ton of ways to do so. Destinylfg.com is a great site, there's even the forums in Destiny's site, there are always tons of people looking to play, you just have to look for them!

  • I'm hoping that the level 30 gear for IB will be rank 5 so most people (unless you hit rank 3 in the first week it was out) won't reach rank 5 in one week considering how long it took for me just to get to 3 with all the people quitting and crap. But if this is the case I know people will bitch because the rep for IB is being reset after this next event and most will whine about how it's too hard to get to rank 5 in one week. Either way it should prevent level 27s or 28s from just jumping straight to 30 via IB.

  • Why? Cause RNG likes you and not them? Your not the only that has put a lot of time in the raid. Myself I haven't done any insane amount probably only like 6-7 total but I'm talking about other people who do it so much and don't get shit. Stop being such a dick man. Is it that you don't want people to get to 30 because you "earned" yours more then them. To get the iron banner gear you are going to have to grind the shit out of it and anyone who gets there deserve. I hope lots of people get there personally. So we can finally see some rewards for all those bullshit raids.

First off no need to attack for no reason since I'm not trying to be a dick. Ultimately I couldn't care less if people get to 30 since the only thing it makes a difference in is the hard raid and the one week every month IB is going to be out. It doesn't make a difference to me if someone had earned it through IB or the raid. The point to my post and the OP was now that PvP has a way of getting to 30 (or at least partially) it should be equally as hard to obtain the gear as it is to get raid gear. As stated above, at the moment level 30 in the game is the pinnacle of leveling and as with any other online multiplayer game it should be difficult and should take multiple hours to get there. It should be something that people look at and say "I want to be 30 at some point in the future" not something that anyone can obtain right off the bat or assume they will get in one raid run. I don't agree with the RNG raid system as is because it does allow for people to potentially do hard raid one time as a level 29 and instantly be 30 after one go which isn't fair to the people who have put the time in and may only have one or two pieces. Speaking of which if you know anyone that has done the raid "a ton" I would love to know their user name so I can examine their stats out of curiosity. I've also read plenty of posts of individuals that claim they have done the raid 20 plus times and have never been given a single piece of raid gear but in many cases once you look at the stats their story falters in some way. Everyone I know or have ever raided with in the game who actually has put the time in to do the raid 20+ times (normal and hard combination) has at least one piece of raid gear if not one or two 30 characters. In addition I am totally on board with helping those people raid if they've truly done the raid that many times with no gear awarded.

  • I raid on 3 characters you can see my stats if you want. I only raid on normal cause for some reason nobody wants to do it on hard. But I've done the raid more than enough to get all raid gear but the rng refuses to give me a chest piece. I need a chest piece for all 3 of my characters.

  • No offense but 12 times isn't that much especially if you've only done normal. I think it took me 25 (combo of normal and hard) runs to get enough raid gear to get three characters to 30 and my warlock still refuses to get the boots or chest piece.

  • The comment came off as more aggressive then I wanted. I've just been reading a lot of shit on people earning this and people earning that I was just getting annoyed.

  • Understandable. In the same way that I keep getting annoyed when people claim to have done the raid 20 times and never have a piece of raid gear but when you call them out on it they are usually spreading bs for no reason. In my view it's an insult to the people that have worked hard to get their raid gear and the people who actually are in that situation, if it truly exists. But I guess the solution to both our problems of frustration is to just stop reading people's posts haha.

  • Ah gotcha, well as long as it's a challenge for people to get the gear I guess it won't take away from it too much, and with how some people are going through the raid a ton and not getting the gear it also gives them a chance to get to 30 as well. I didn't think about it that way before, but I've been hearing about a lot of people going through the raid a bunch of times and not getting 1 piece of armor.

  • I've found for the most part those people either have one character or they are trying to do a character of each class at the same time instead of doubling or tripling up the same character class to increase their chances. It's either that or they say they have done the raid a ton of times but they've only ever done it on normal and have only actually completed it a few times. Which if that's the case the raid gear drop for normal is something atrocious like 5% where as for hard it's around 10 or 15% I believe. Ultimately when someone starts spouting bs about how they've done the raid 20 times and never gotten a piece of raid gear I tend not to believe them until I've examined all their stats.
