I see what you're saying, but since when did they pay me? They don't give me glimmer. They don't give me marks. They only give me faction reputation points that allow me to buy stuff from them. Which is the same I'd get from vanguard/crucible if I didn't choose a faction. Now, if The Nine gave me exotics directly in exchange for wearing a hunter cloak with www.xursgenuineearnedexotics.com written on it whilst killing the darkness or owning nubs, then that would be a lot closer to corporate sponsorship. :p
