Being a "completionist" IS the wrong choice. By the time you finish your strike killing every single pointless incredibly low leveled mob out there, you could've beaten at least two strikes if you rushed it. Doesn't matter if you rush or not, you're most likely going to go straight to another one afterwards and spend the same amount of time playing with either style.
Why spend an hour to do 3 strikes instead of spending an hour to do 6 or 7 and earning more XP, marks and rewards?
It honestly does not make sense to kill the low leveled not required shit. Its way more efficient to keep moving on to the required mobs in ANY way you look at it.

I'd recommend the book Switch by Chip and Dan Heath. Arguing logic doesn't work. You have to motivate the emotional side of an individual to make it really work (in conjunction with logic). Your logic is sound, but you haven't targeted the reason people walk/shoot (completionist) every strike. Some people are just plain having fun. If you could show someone how much more fun it is to run vice walk, you'd swing the community. Unfortunately, that must be felt and experienced. The written word (here) will most likely only apply to logic (unless you're an incredible writer). Logic is just not a strong enough element to do it alone.

Woah. You are a genious. This is honestly the best reply I've ever gotten on the internet. Thank you.
-
-
Your statement, is wrong. I've been in a group with two runners. They sprinted to the final, as I killed everything behind them. I got to the boss before they even shot at it. Why? Because they had to run and hide constantly, and I was able to keep up while killing everything.
-
Its a game. You will achieve no real life benefits from completing strikes. Some people just want to play. At a play ground, do you run around to all the toys and slides and swings and do it all as fast as you can so your "done", Or do you just want to play?
-
Do you run to the slide, race up the ladder, slam your ass down, slide and repeat? Or are you the goober sitting at the top picking his nose while others have to wait?
-
Edited by Br_Sbagel: 11/7/2014 3:39:08 PMI see what you mean but its not the same thing. You are limited to a couple of slides in a real park. Destiny has countless slides of the slide you want to slide on. You see a kid picking his nose on one of them, let him pick his nose and go to a different slide where the line goes fast, or your very own slide that no one else plays on. I was playing strike playlist and played with some people that I felt skipped too much and some people I thought went to slow. Then I got matched up with 2 people that play almost exactly at my same pace. I sent them friend requests and we play all the time.
-
That's not the same thing, because once I'm done a strike I start another one. You people just don't get it.
-
No I get it. You're in a hurry so you're trying to "maximize" your time. In an hour you can run through more strikes by rushing than if you killed everything and got "distracted". I don't think you get what I'm saying. What is the point? If you do 1,000 strikes and get 1,000 rewards what good does it do you? Its a game. People get way serious about it and some people get home from work and want to not have to think about going back to work the next morning so they shoot things in a game. It makes total sense to want to play at your own pace and do what you want while you're wasting time in a game. You can't waste it more than someone else because all of the rare items and marks and xp add up to the same thing as fighting everything in sight. Its all multiplied by 0 because when you turn the game off, you really haven't progressed in your life, but you have done something you want to with your free time, which is important.
-
This isn't about wasting time in real life. This is about the game. If you rush, you shoot more enemies. Get more rewards. Plain and simple. If you don't rush, you're slowing the team down and wasting their time. Plain and simple. There is literally ZERO benefits to killing trash mobs. Zero. I've yet to be proven wrong. Just because you want to play slower and stretch out the strike for a longer time to beat while other people have already moved on to other strikes? Come on dude.
-
Ugh...still with the wrong and right thing. Is it so hard to understand? The "right" way to play is totally opinion. Open your mind a bit and realize not everybody is trying to play they way you think is best.
-
The way I think is best though.
-
It doesn't matter if it is the wrong choice. That is how their brain is structured and they will continue to methodically kill everything they see whether it is beneficial or detrimental to their ultimate aims.
-
By killing all the trash mobs I've aquire more legendry engrams than through any other method. Also with a full group killing trash mobs you can complete the strike faster than having to wait for the guy that screws up and constantly dies trying to run through. Your opinion is not wrong and neither is mine. It's like cheesing unless I'm soloing the night fall I feel no reason to do it however there are countless others that always do it. Doesn't make them wrong. Play the game the way that makes you happy and quit telling people they play wrong.
-
By wasting time killing all the trash mobs, you could've already moved on to other mobs that matter and drop better stuff, and also the end rewards. By killing trash mobs, you're purposely adding filler to the strike, making it longer for no reason. Why can't you people see this? Its not like skipping trash mobs takes the same amount of time to kill them. You waste no time at all getting to the ones that matter. And then you move straight onto the next. Then the next. Strike after strike after strike after strike after strike. Or. Sssstttrrrriiiikkkkeee plus a ssstttrrrriiikkkkeeee. Think about how much time you're wasting. Think long and hard.
-
Because I've cleared strikes faster by killing everything also everything has the same chance to drop any loot. Hence why the loot cave worked so well.
-
You don't clear strikes faster by killing everything. That literally does not make sense.
-
It does when the stupid kids continually get killed running through. I clear most strikes in 10~15 minutes. Also I guess I don't kill everything just the trash mobs in the way of my next objective. Like screw killing everything in the rocket yards that would actually take forever.
-
I don't really care anymore cuz its not that big a deal to me lol. But completely unrelated and serious question. When you say 'kids', are you referring to low level players? I've noticed this trend and I think its kinda odd how we relate levels to age in games.
-
No I just used the word. I guess people is a more correct term. But my hand is falling asleap and typing with my non dominant hand is hard. Lol
-
Instead of wasting my time on trying to explain how their is no wrong choice, I will just post this.
-
There is a wrong choice. You're spending the same amount of time if you rush or not. Only difference is, if you rush, you're killing way more, way stronger enemies. Plus getting more engram's, xp, and marks. You can't argue that.
-
Edited by destreader13: 11/7/2014 1:46:59 PMSo by your logic if you spend the EXACT same time if you rush or not, then one group kills more while the other kills less. Thank you for basically shooting your self in the foot.
-
Yes. Because one group is constantly fighting respawning enemies and obtaining more rewards. Its not hard to understand.
