I'm a runner. It's my understanding that idlers actually don't get the rewards after the boss. I'm pretty sure of this. As long as they stay in the initial spawn area.
Also I'm not just a runner. I'm a sprinter. At the Shrine of Oryx I run straight to the boss and skip EVERYTHING. Though I know that's not a strike.
