Foreword:
The thread about Titans is giving genuine thanks and praise. I really didn't like them at first, but I was ignorant. This thread about Hunters and Hunter players is more a sort of profile or review on their general characteristics. I feel that each class has its own merits and that the players in general have some good qualities and noticeable foibles about them.
I don't actually hate Hunters. I play a Hunter myself.
Hunters are well known for their less desirable traits.
Some are loud and headstrong. Full of themselves.
On the forums they are rash, brash, vocal and stubborn.
Others are quiet and introvert. Selfishly ignoring all others. Lone wolves until the end.
In PvE, Hunter players are seen as useless. They contribute little to the team effort and they go down easily. The better equipped, stronger classed and more rational players are forced to take damage as they find a way to rescue them. No doubt facepalming at the same time, wondering why the Hunter player isn't using his mic and how he could be so stupid to go running into the horde for one or two melee kills.
In PvP, Hunters are sniping you from across the map and blink jumping all over the place and they seem to have an endless and unstoppable arc blade super. The Hunter is seen as an annoyance. A house fly. Nobody can stand to be around them. In their own arrogance, they can't even stand each other.
Hunters are often thought to be the noob class. The Golden Gun super has so much aim assist that its very difficult to miss. The Arc Blade can be seen as a simply mash and win super.
But there is a little bit more depth to the Hunter than at first meets the eye...
Hunters are probably the class with the highest learning curve. Masters of the Hunter are the most skilled of players.
Hunters appear to have a light in them that burns brighter and fiercer than the other classes. In that fashionable cloak of theirs, they are like wolves in sheep's clothing.
Hunter players are perhaps the most dedicated members of the community. Sinking many hours into the game - I have seen more level 30 Hunters than any other class.
Eager to complete any bounty or task, rarely do you see a Hunter complain about grinding. They thoroughly explore and inspect the world that they inhabit. They relish discovery.
Though Hunters are highly experienced and very knowledgeable on the game, their high emotions can often block them from forming constructive and well laid out posts in their arguments on the forums.
Many guardians of the other two classes often dismiss the Hunters' opinions and ideas. Thinking them to be naive and childish. This is a mistake.
The few who actually take the time to listen and make sense of the Hunter - soon reach a much deeper understanding of Destiny and of the burdens and frustrations that Hunters have to bear.
Hunters are most frustrated when they feel that they have reached their peak and that they cannot advance any further. This can be because they have maxed their skills, character or weapon. Or simply because Bungie has restricted access to a part of the game or failed to capitalize on an opportunity.
Hunters want what is best for themselves. But whether knowingly or not, what is best for a Hunter is also best for everyone. Hunters are brimming with ideas that add longevity to the game.
In PvE, Hunters specialize in removing enemy shields from a distance. They soften up the mobs for the Titans and Warlocks to finish off. They lay down covering fire while other classes seek better positioning. They are the medics who revive fallen team mates by using their invisibility.
In the raid they are certainly not useless. Their Golden Gun is the biggest threat to Oracles, Hobgoblin Snipers, Supplicants and portal mobs Their speed and agility makes them the perfect Relic holders.
Hunters are not able to Cheese bosses. Nor do they wish to. Hunters shun those who shy away from hard work.
In PvP, the Hunter's Arc Blade super must be set up in advance. The kills to come must be calculated and anticipated. Hunters are able to think ahead and almost play Destiny as if it were Chess. Hunter players must be able to perform under pressure and score consistent headshots whilst under fire.
The skills of a good Hunter are obtained only through undergoing many grueling and painstaking hours of practice, trial and error.
Is it any wonder then, that Hunters are proud and boastful? Few guardians have the Patience and Time to acquire the dexterity of a skilled Hunter.
Hunters players are the most passionate people in our community. They wear their hearts on their sleeves. Hunters let it all hang out. They will not be silenced. They are never afraid to stand up to injustice and speak their minds.
The biggest thread starters, fan art creators, story tellers and youtubers are all Hunters.
Hunters call things as they are. They are not afraid to hurt your feelings. They are not afraid to call you out or challenge you. They are brutally honest.
Hunter players can be easily hurt and become easily upset. They are emotional glass cannons. Perhaps this is why they pick a glass cannon class in the game.
Hunters strive to be the best at everything. They train hard in precision weapons. They don't just want to get a kill. They want to do it in style and look their best while they are at it.
Hunters are very aware of their surroundings and they do their best to make use of whatever they have. They have mastered the art of manipulating the radar. Just as they have mastered the art of manipulating your emotions.
Hunters are risk takers. They won't fold on a bad hand. They will play their cards and hope for the best.
People who play the Hunter always seem to be able to see things in ways that others cannot. They are able to adapt very quickly to changes in the environment and in people's behaviour. They are very perceptive people. They may act immaturely but they have the intellect and experience of one who has traveled around the world.
Hunters like to challenge themselves. Determined and bloodthirsty; they are always striving for the most kills, always looking for the best weapons. The best farming runs. The quickest routes.
Hunters value efficiency.
Almost all of the glitches that have been found in the game have been discovered by Hunters.
Here are just a few examples of where Hunter players have excelled:
Did you see the Sparrow Surfing video? That was a Hunter.
Jumping the Helmouth? Hunter.
Scariest Super? Hunter.
Destiny Vault of Glass Solo Oracles? Hunter.
Hunters are trailblazers and trendsetters.
Hunters are inventors and innovators.
Hunters can never make up their mind which shader and emblem they want to use because they see beauty, creativity and opportunity in everything.
People who play as Hunters are bittersweet and fickle.
You either love them or hate them.
They know that they can't please the whole world. They gave up trying to a long time ago.
However, I would say that they are the most confident players and you won't find anybody more honest and frank than a Hunter.
This, coming from a Warlock and Hunter player, and a Thorny Guardian.
See you all Starside.

I loved this. I have been a Hunter since day 1 and everything in here is true. I think I MAY ( not for sure) have been the first to push all those little bombs on the Archon strike into where he lands and blow them up taking a quarter of his health. I also spend tons of time on the forums trying to be rational, but usually get stuck trying to prevent us from being nerfed or stop other hunters from asking for to much. In PVE, it's all or nothing as a bladedancer. I don't really care if you are surrounded and go down, I will risk everything so that you can get back up. If I must leap into a hoard of certain death, that will happen. We also dispatch of annoying minions quickly and efficiently so that you can focus on taking out a boss. Thank you for making this awesome post.

As a hunter I am still can help feel that we are let down, simply because of weaker players calling foul play on the hunter call causing a nerd for both subclass. I have said this before in other post and i will say it here since this is a really interesting and well though out post. Lets start with the gunslinger - Nerf the Golden Gun Super power level down (Then add perks in to replace power level of super) 1) Add a perk to increase range of Golden Gun. 2) A perk to over penetrate. 3) A perk to cause enemies to explode. The blade dancer i feel sorry for. It maybe has a long enough run time for the super charge but its is at least the most difficult to handle aim and attack super I have used. The wave is tiny and can be jumped over like a short fence. No sort of blast radius and damage area. It is slow moving and like I said the aiming is way off. When compared to every other super and their aim this one falls off the chart for being badly built. The wave needs to be faster, bigger with a larger curve probably at least 190 degree and longer. For goodness sake the Cabal has a better wave blast than the blade dancer subclass hunter. I call it as is and I say all these are BS. My reason is simple. Why should I have the power of the sun in my hands yet need perks to give back power to a super that already had these thing in it from default and even from remembering playing the beta. Why mush I have a useless perk to cause a visual effect just to simply see someone or an enemies explode. BS this is the power of the sun!! You should not be standing in front me, you should have turned to dust. Why should need an over penetration perk and range on a super that suppose to be this powerful. It takes a lot of skill to be accurate with the Golden Gun, even with hours of practice and coming from Halo with years of sniping and being a lone wolf player. I know what its like to play mainly about accuracy and headshot kills. So the Hunter was an easy pick. For all those out there who think its easy to play as the hunter I say to you take on the challenge before talking. I have played as all three classes and deleted the other two. Figure I will start over again with the titan because there isn't much to do in Destiny any ways and its an easy class to use. Both the other two guardian classes both have massive area damage supers and like it or not but truthfully they are mostly used as a panic attack button, especially in PVP. The warlock and this sun seeker class omg what an over kill. Waking up from the dead fully charged, whats that about? I get the waking up part probably with an over shield but not the fact this class has full supers and melee everything. The titan bubble shield "yes it is a bubble shield" there is no way this thing should be able to stand up against the golden gun. The other abilities with that shield i get but to stand up against the golden gun plus the length of time it runs for is ridiculous. But yet many will say the Hunter is OP. This game went wrong the very day PVP was made a fundamental part of it. PVP should have come on its own Disk and separated servers from PVE. It should not have been stitched into the PVE part of this game and made necessary. If it wasn't none of this level Cap or amor and weapons power would need to be adjusted and drops in power. None of the supers or abilities of any guardian. We would all be able to full enjoy every aspect of our guardians, builds and rewards earned from hard work and grinding hours. But now guess what? You have 7 exotics right in your list of weapons and gear, but can only use one at any given time. Yet you are ether at lvl 29 or maxed out 30, yet stuck with legendary gear and weapons while you have better to your disposal. Destiny would be better if PVP was separated from PVE period. And yes it is part because you still need crucible marks and points to buy gear and weapons from factions. You still get some of the best rewards other than the RAID in PVP. You still need PVP no matter what you play right now as is in Destiny. And this is all I will have to say about this game right now. It might be confusing to most who read it but try to open your mind to what I have said. You will see my points layer out. Thank you hate it or like it. I said it!

I wish I could agree, but I have both a Titan and a hunter. My Titan took a lot of learning to have any success in PVP. The very first match of PVP on my hunter, at lvl 15, I came in close to top of the match. I've barley pvped with him since, but man was it easier. I've since switched him to golden gun since I hardly PVP anyway(blade dancer isn't good for much end game) and honestly, even though my Titan is more durable in pve, at least I get to use my special from time to time.

Hunters are bad
-
Hah being a 30 hunter myself, it was kind of weird how accurate that was to myself xD.
-
This... This was beautiful.
-
Hunters are killing machines. That's what they are meant for. Everyone thinks they are bad because "they can't do teamwork" but they never take into consideration how much damage and work they do. The whole point of a hunter is a Lone Wolf. So I don't know why people think of us as poor players
-
Presumptuous. Speak for yourself, buddy. I hate everyone equally, I am the one who revives my teammates, they don't "rescue" me, I don't give a flying -blam!- if I get placed first, last or anywhere in between, I'm far more mature and intelligent than most people on this forum and I have the actual grasp that class does not identify who you are and how you play. Don't speak for Hunters. Though you made some valid points you forgot to state that almost everything on this post was opinion. Not fact. Good bye.
-
You sir.... I have no words. You've captured us perfectly.
-
I think you think hunters are a different species. I am not. But I do hate any other hunter that joins teh fireteam tho
-
It's always all about the player. In pvp I'm constantly kicking hunters asses while they try to prove their worth. The only times they get consistent kill on me is their supers. Otherwise, most hunters I've seen are shit. I can snipe cross map better than any hunter has done to me. Just because hunter is the most popular class, doesn't mean that everyone who uses it is good at the game. It just means that they can't beat the hard raid, so they run around finding glitches. Warlocks, hunters, Titans doesn't matter. It's the player.
-
This is all nice but I feel like you are talking about a few Hunters out of the many worthless. Crybabies, Whiners, twelve-year-olds who think they are so cool, talk down the other classes because the best player in the world decided he wanted to be a Hunter. If he was a Titan, he would still be best player in the world. Player skill is player skill. Every Hunter I know is selfish, unwilling to cooperate with a team and goes lone wolf because, "Hunters are the lone wolves of the game! Let me be good!" They go die and we have to back pack them. They are definitely the easiest class to use. Supers are catered to the casuals. I mean come on, you know how they are. Golden Gun is the needler of Destiny. Bladedancer? Teleport insta kill. You want to know why nobody likes Hunters but themselves? It's because of what they do. They think they are soooo cool. They're not. I've made one. I know what's up. My K/D went from a 1.84 to a 2.86 when I played Crucible. Why? The Hunter class was so easy. I just had to shoot around people with GG and they died. Bladedancer? Mashed the Melee button, killed the whole team, ran across the stage because of Encore, max speed plus the helmet and I killed two more people. It ran out and I went Shotty sliding and killed the rest. Sure there are the few out there who can actually handle themselves and be quite a nice addition to a team, but every Hunter I run into sucks, whines all the time, does the whole lone wolf I don't need a team thing, cries about Shoulder Charge because they got killed one or two times by it, whine when they get killed by FOH or Nova Bomb (that's after they killed 2-3 people with theirs first. Final note, don't even get me started about, "We need to know WHEN to use our supers!" Anybody needs to know when to use their supers. I see Hunters use their supers too early all the time and they STILL get kills. If a Titan or Warlock did that it would be wasted. Get nothing for it. If you're a Hunter and aren't at least decent because of how much the Hunter class actually carries you...you know what's up. The losers using them need to learn that they aren't automatically badass because they have a blanket on their back and can use supers that do all the work for you. They need to learn that teamwork and hard work make you a badass. I'm not going to say, "Be good." Because that's just stupid. Learn to work as a team and learn to help your team. Until they can learn to do that, I despise the Hunter class.
-
i feel this is the short version of this topic. hunters are neither too weak or too op. they are a class that some players call for noobs but dont understand it takes skills to perform with it to its max level. just like the titan and warlock there r players that can use em well and some that cant. more practice and more suitable to ur play style plus skill can make any class great.
-
Yes, this describes a Top Tier Hunter.
-
When people realize that there are assholes and 10 year olds playing all classes maybe then we can actually voice concerns that better the game instead of trying to get everything nerfed to oblivion.
