What happened to Destiny?

Disclaimer: This video is not why I have all these questions, the major disappointment I feel is in playing this game for myself. This is just one of many videos that asks my questions, and does so without being a major douche-hole about it. Now, I know everyone is complaining non-stop. "Oh, Density sucks." "Bunge ripped me off!!!" "Bunge cant ban me". Yada Yada, and all that jazz. But I want to know is what happened to this game... why did the trailers I was shown only vaguely resemble the end product? What happened to Old Chicago? Why is my exploration of Earth limited only to the Cosmodrome, a cement fact told to us by Deej now. Why are there areas that are pre-rendered and you are able to access that are not populated with quests or enemies? Is it that these areas are locked off so that we can immediately pay for them upon scheduled DLC release? Does that mean this games 10 year shelf life only happens if you're willing to pay through the nose for every instalment? I just want to know why my beta experience, which wasn't exactly a polished experience to begin with (Except in the graphics and map design departments) ended up being the exact same game I played on release, and was 1/4 of the content I have available to me on launch. Why is it I have to throw my weapons away and hope I get a weapon that matches my level so I can deal adequate damage? I though this wasn't supposed to be like borderlands. What happened to me finding a gun I like and it staying with me? My weapons have a shelf life of 4 levels, at max if they are upgradeable. The weapon leveling, equipment leveling, and everything I was told about the game's loot and level system has nothing to do with how it actually works now. The classes themselves offer a purely cosmetic difference to the PvE story and patrol missions. There is no distinctly unique way that the game changes for each class and sub-type, it is all purely aesthetic. The only change is how it looks when you kill an enemy. Which is kind of sad for me becausee this game becomes not an MMO type but more of just a shooter that tries harder than your typical shooter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HezsTP1bcng There is really only one group of people I can find that defends all the obvious faults in the game, ignores them, and expounds upon how great and reliable Bungie has been in the past and so we should just trust them. I wanted to make a post on how there are two sides to the argument but I really only found this one where it kind of mocks the community. Which I find fallacious, because as a man with a job, who is going to school, I purchased Destiny with all the expectation of playing the game I was told I would play. I am not upset because I spent my precious 60 dollars on a game that I can't get maximum enjoyment from, I'm pertubed because it isn't Destiny. It isn't the poster in ODST. It's a casual experience that didn't meet it's own hype. tl:dr I just want answers. You already have my money, I just want to know what changed from then to now. Why is it such a vastly different game?
