Hello fellow destiny gamers.
I like you to share you my secret by getting the best rewards doing nightfall or weekly heroic strikes.
When the final boss is 1 shot, you have to go back to the orbit.
Not all players because if you do then you have to redo everthing again.
One player go to orbit then rejoin.
Then the other player goes to the orbit then rejoin.
Doing this, will reset your kills, deaths, and play time... well actually everything.
Here is the trick. You get the best reward by completing the nightfall or weekly heroic strikes as fast as possible.
I've tested this several times with my friends.
Last week, i did nightfall solo. When the boss was one shot, i asked 2 friends to join me.
When they joined, i killed the boss and the game ended.
I got 6 strange coins.
My friend got 6 ascendant shards and 6 ascendant energy.
My other friend got a legendary engram or exotic. i don't remember anymore.
This week tried doing it again but this time i went back to orbit too and rejoined the team.
I really don't remember what my friends got but i do remember getting the Exotic Hard Light weapon.
--Edit--
This is not a troll thread/post. I am not joking about the fact that you can actually get better stuff by having your progress reset.
Most of you say it's all random or same RNG, but no.. it's not in Nightfall.
If it doesn't work the first time getting an exotic weapon by going to the orbit and rejoining back doesn't mean it doesn't work.
-
I don't think this is true. I did this to complete the level 30 nightfall with my level 28 warlock and she only got 9 strange coins.
-
If you equip the Revenant shader and Keepers Emblem, start the Nightfall as a level 28, then swap your gear out back to level 26, right before activating a shotgun telemetry and picking up two lots of heavy ammo, the rewards will still be random.
-
*sigh* *facepalm* yet another poster who doesn't understand the word RANDOM, something happening 2 or 3 times does not constitute making this post for it, the rewards are RANDOM!
-
Old post but this theory is completely false. Just another thread about trying to solve RNG.
-
This happened to my team yesterday. One player was dying all the time and so for the boss fight was laying there dead. She left went back to orbit came back and we killed boss. She got gjallahorn. Only had 1 kill.
-
I've experienced this as well

I run it with the same clan members each week and none of us ever drop out. From the 3 runs in yesterdays nightfall I got Truth, Patience and Time and No Backup Plans, while the other 2 in my clan got next to nothing. As well as these in the last 3 weeks i have also gained Hawkmoon, Suros regime, monte carlo and no land beyond, again the other 2 in my clan got very little in comparison. It seems that dropping out makes no difference but it does look as though the 'random' drops are not very random at all. I'm not complaining about the drops i get but it does anger my friends that i get all the drops and they get nothing.
-
Completely random dude this method has been proven wrong since the second month of game
-
i have had a pretty good run the last 3 weeks first week got suros regime 2nd got mida multi tool but i already had it so it turned into exotic shard then last week i got alpha lupi chest armour for my hunter and i did them from start to finish im pretty sure its just luck of the draw guys :)
-
If you use the Khvostov the whole nightfall, you are 100% GURANTEED to
Die a lot and get random rewards.
-
I just soloed it. 30 mins, 126 kills and a Gjallahorn as my reward (it's on my warlock). So think your ramblings are rubbish.
-
Wait didnt your friends join and not die either?
-
Gjallarhorn (no deaths) MIDA Multi-Tool (one death) Plan C (no deaths) No backing out, no messing around. Get it done, that's all that matters.
-
I soloed the nightfall in half an hour and got thunderlord and next time got gjallargon so :p
-
Do you understand what random means?
-
My buddies would have a new clan member join during the boss fight for months because they were trying to get them up to their level quickly. They would work the boss down and let the newbie come in from orbit and get the kill. According to them, the noob almost always got exotics this way. It may just be random, but I think going to orbit and coming back does something to the process.

its RANDOM - stop wasting your time
-
Its random period.

Edited by Llohr: 1/21/2015 9:27:39 PMI hate to say it, but this jives well with my experience, and if it were really true it would mean the nightfall works exactly the opposite of the way it should work. Have seen a player hop in at the last moment, to the extent that all he saw was a black screen, and get a gjallarhorn. I always stick through it from beginning to end, and have only gotten one exotic so far. This week's rewards: ascendant materials twice (like we don't have enough already) and "The Devil You Don't" legendary hand cannon (crap). Last week, ascendant materials, legendary sniper, ascendant materials. Etc. Every week I have a jump-in at the last minute for at least one of the three runs, and nine times out of ten, they get an exotic. I know it's anecdotal and not nearly conclusive, but it only takes three examples to make a pattern, and I've got a lot more than three, so I can say, at least, that the nightfall has exhibited a pattern of giving the best rewards to the least contributing players.

Edited by Swag: 2/11/2015 6:01:22 AMApparently it's not how quickly you finish Nightfall, it's whether or not you die during it. Apparently - I obviously have no proof but this is what people have told me - if you finish it without dying, you get a higher chance at an exotic drop. Again, I don't know if it's true, but this would explain why the guy below who said he solo'd it over the course of 30 minutes got an exotic; because he obviously could not have died. This would explain why leaving and rejoining is yielding more exotic drops; because those leaving and rejoining are finishing the strike without dying.

Thank you. Me and friends have been doing this from launch, now I guess bungie will fix that. Get to boss get him down to .01% health, 2 leave and return, leader changes and leaves to return.. POP boss dies.... 3 players... 3 exotics drops... (warlock chest, Hunter helm, Truth) Happens about 90% of the time we do this.
-
you're not understanding that the algorithms for RNG do not take time played into account. merely the completion starts the algorithm to give rewards.
-
I shit the bed on my warlock this week and died ALOT in the beginning of the nightfall. Ended up in 2nd in kills, but more deaths than the other dudes. I got Nemesis helmet they both got crap (legendary crap and shards tbe)
-
It's still RNG whether you like it or not (unknown rewards)I have tested this out a lot but not much has changed its not guaranteed that you will get something exotic you may luck out though but yeah it is worth a shot to take but sometimes when I did this my friends died and we had to start all over again
-
Worst case scenario... When you leave your buddies finish off the boss before you rejoin. That would be my luck.
-
Got patience and time this way
