The cars, planes, and boats littering the interior and exterior of the Cosmodrome implies a large influx of people and materials. This could mean a hasty exodus. People were trying to escape the earth and run away from the Darkness/Collapse. Our character died outside of the walls of the Cosmodrome. We have instinctive knowledge of how to use and maintain weapons, even though we seem to remember almost nothing else of our previous lives. I would say this means we were soldiers. Protectors posted outside of the walls of the Cosmodrome in order to protect the civilians while they tried to escape.
