30 seconds of promo footage during development does not equal huge amounts of cut altered content. Stop the conspiracies. The cutscenes were cinematic, the story was vague but existent and there's more to come. Should there have been more? Sure. The game was never going to be like a Naughty Dog game. It's a little too open for that. They intentionally avoided forcing our guardians into too much 2nd person storytelling because they didn't want to force a character type onto us, it's supposed to be our character. They could have given us more dialog options or something, but I guess they didn't want us to deviate either. I'm not trying to make excuses. Just trying to divine their reasoning. But I am tired of seeing the same "evidence" that there was something more and it was taken away. Be glad we got what we did, if there was in fact catastrophic late development changes.

  • Sorry but I don't see an open character at all. There is no altering the set path or choices at all. I think a twist ending is what I was expecting but I wasn't expecting "save the traveller, oh you saved it yay!" And that's pretty much it. That's all I got out if the whole thing.

  • Sorry mate but seen a whole lot more than thirty seconds, but that's up to you.

  • I was probably a bit off topic to begin with and feeling overly confrontational at that moment. I'll retract at least some of my statements for the sake of avoiding argument. Didn't mean to be an ass, for that I apologize.

  • There's the demo gameplay they set up for E3, which doesn't really count since it was the first mission with extra scripting for the demo. There was about 5 seconds of that Crow scene, a momentary blurb about a queen mission on Mars, some flyovers of mercury and some ramblings about Saturn. I watched the ViDocs, the E3 stuff and most of the other things that people talked about/linked. I've looked at all the "cut" content. Which is just unfinished areas included in the initial release. They clearly had more planned. But it didn't get done for whatever reason. Don't forget that all important "subject to change" notice whenever they showed anything before release. It is amazing how people tracked down interviews from all over the world, found little tidbits in videos here and there (most of which was out of context or misquoted) and then turned it all into a huge conspiracy that Destiny was chopped into little pieces for corporate greed.

  • I think the telling interview that no one can deny is " We want Destiny to be compared to Star Wars, Harry Potter and Lord of the rings. We want our game to be on the same shelf as them story's. " I have paraphrased a little but that's what was said. Does Destiny compare to Fellowship or A New Hope? Sadly no. It doesn't even come close to the awful Phantom Menace. Bungie promised a lot, but didn't bring it. The start of any story is meant to grab you, pull you in and make you want to know more. Destiny doesn't do that, it doesn't have time and it wants to explain later. Sorry but every game should be able to stand up on its own merits. Destiny just doesn't, which is a huge shame.
