There is a barrier underneath the platform so aksor can't be cheesed.

I just jump up onto the ridge at the entrance to fighting Aksor after you kill the two Hydras. I hope Bungie didn't fix that.

Couldn't get underneath from normal front entrance

All you need to do is go from behind the platform now. You jump from on the platform and land on the edge behind it, then crouch and walk under it.
