What the -blam!- is this shit? That's me, a level 30 Defender being one shotted by a level 25 Hunter in Iron Banner. That same hunter would finish in 2nd place on a team full of 29s and 30s.
I was told, explicitly, BY YOU DEEJ:
IN THIS POST:
Power. Does. Matter! (no, really)
Only players Level 20 and above can lead a Fireteam
Players below Level 20 can accompany more powerful friends
Players within 3 Levels can be competitive with each other
Your DEFENSE rating affects how you take damage
Wear your best (highest rated) armor
Players out of your league will seem like a Boss
1) Do you need help doing math? What is 30 - 25. Is it 3?
2) Do you need help with the definition of "out of your league" and "boss"?
3) Please explain why Level 25's are able to one shot level 30s, with regular weapons (nonheavy) in IB. Would it have been so hard to use a damage dampening function that ceilings at (opponentMaxHealth-%10) for the sake of making light level ACTUALLY matter? Seriously?
Bait and -blam!-ing switch dude. I resubbed my psn+ for the chance to make my raid gear shine, and now I wish I hadn't.

Edit: Because all of you are idiots
1) Yes my shot did not connect and kill the guy. At no point did I claim I wanted people to die when I looked at them because they are a lower level than me. Please feel free to spend precious moments of your life to tell me I missed, as I clearly had no idea.
2) If the light level damage dropoff curve is so pathetic in IB 2.0 that a decent shot from a non-heavy weapon is still a one-shot despite a huge level gap (>3), then your light level doesn't matter in practice. Only in theory. If it only matters in theory, this is IB 1.0
3) I typically do patrol mission bounties etc before I log out. I do not do these in my level 30 set because my level 30 set has way too much strength over disc/int thanks to rng. Is it so hard to imagine that a guy can log off in a not level 30 set and still be level 30 when he wants to?

Power might not matter as much as you thought, but skill always matters. All I see is a Fusion Rifle battle that you lost... #Lookslikethatguyjustkilledyou
-
Why are you complaining when you suck? Confused.
-
Nah, that's not the reason. Levels don't matter when someone is lagging.
-
Its called skill. His. And yours lack of.
-
First of all: Gear matters more then levels! Second: Where is your level 30 defender???
-
Recipie for a one-shot in Iron Banner. Mix one high level player. Add one lower level player with maxed out Fusion Rifle. Stir until higher level player misses his FR shot, and the lower level player DOESN"T. Maxed out legendary weapon's attack rating overcomes the level-induced damage nerf. Go back and read the part where Deej says, "Lower level players WITH MAXED OUT WEAPONS SHOULD STILL BE A CREDIBLE THREAT. The level advantage is an ADVANTAGE. Its not a mantle of invulnerability.

Probably cuz he missed, and the 25 was close up with a fusion rifle, which is always a 1HK up close, even in the iron banner
-
Just because you are higher lvl doesn't make you invincible. A maxed shotgun to the face is going to kill you regardless of the lvl wielding it

Edited by Proximo: 11/19/2014 2:11:47 PMFirst of all ur lvl 28 with a .93 k/d no wonder u got owned! Don't people no we can c there profile?

Edited by Moot: 11/19/2014 2:19:55 PMDude, Deej also said that a lower level player with a maxed out weapon would still be a threat. If you got killed with a shotgun, then what the hell do you expect: its a shotgun. Also, if you went into iron banner thinking that you would bitch slap you way through slightly lower leveled players, then clearly you need to rethink your attitude towards the event. I for one have greatly noticed the change in attack and defense. I struggle to lower the shields of a level 30 without dying, while also I am able to instakill two level 24s with a single grenade (if I threw well). EDIT: Okay I'm editing this after seeing the footage, and I have a few things to say. First of all, that guy was killed by a fusion rifle, a weapon easily as OP as a shotgun, so no surprises here. Also, the footage could have been filmed by a hater of bungie, meaning that that footage could have actually been from a regular crucible match and not IB. He could then uploadit to YouTube stating that it was an IB clip.

I like how you left out deejs post about max weapons at ANY level still being extremely effective. Sounds like you're just bad.
-
This game is a joke
-
You're level 28... While you have the right raid pieces, you haven't leveled up your armor.... and why are you using non-maxed weapons? You're a bit of a whiner, aren't you? And also a liar.
-
I don't understand why they don't just do ...each 1 lvl above you are. You do 10%more damage and take 10% less .... How hard is that? It would make it soooo much more interesting .... This game man..... I was using a non maxed to any level auto rifle (I. Know auto rifles smh) and was killing people like crazy... This game type is no different than regular crucible ..... But I have noticed that my maxed hand cannon no longer 2 shots people in the head anymore ..... But whatever this game is just a dissapointment in pvp (auto rifle fest anyone?) might as well just play cod. The only thing I enjoy in this game is the lore(that's a joke) and the pve , which is shaky itself

Level doesn't matter. It's all about upgraded equipment.
-
I do t think the problem is with the IB, but more so with fusion rifle balance
-
I think you're wrong about this one bud. I played like 2x hours last night and definitely noticed a big change from the last iron banner. The end of match scoreboards consistently showed lower level 20-24's towards the bottom.
-
I'm a level 30 and I got killed by lower levels with guns under 300 attack. Especially shotguns not even leveled up at all getting one shot killed. All guns I used are maxed. It's the same as any other PVP match. No change but it's cool I don't PVP much so no big deal. Still was fun tho.
-
You're terrible, that's why. That fusion rifle shot didn't even hit him.
-
Edited by Rabishu_: 11/19/2014 2:40:11 PMYou are miss reading. Level does not matter, defense and attack ratings matter (so a level 20 with a maxed out suros is going to hit as hard as a lvl 30 with same gun, the level 20 will just be more squishy) And in the vid you posted you missed him and he shot you, so stop making your self look bad
-
Stop whining about the lvls you would only be happy if you had health like atheon. Lower levels should have a chance my voc at lvl 26 hits 10 shot less for hs
-
Bungie did say that a fully maxed weapon in the hands of a low rank player would still be dangerous. Effectively they would be glass cannons.
-
I want to agree with you on some points because I was getting one shot deaths from a lvl 24's Fatebringer and I'm a lvl 29. I'm pretty sure you can't one shot anything 5 levels above you in game. Boss mode, not on. But they did say a lower level with a maxed out weapon should still be a threat. That's a bit contradictory to the 3 level "league" range. I don't understand it either, but it's not stopping me from going after that gear for level 30.

Attack doesn't matter again ive literally been killed constantly by people using blues and still killing me at the same rate of speed as a fully upgraded legendary. The lvl advantage is a joke and is close to nothing a lvl 20 can still kill a lvl 30 at the same speed. Defense means literally like nothing and surviving or dieing is almost always determined by the connection. Its just crucible with a new paint job.
