What the -blam!- is this shit? That's me, a level 30 Defender being one shotted by a level 25 Hunter in Iron Banner. That same hunter would finish in 2nd place on a team full of 29s and 30s.
So that Hunter was simply a good player.
What, did you expect to automatically win every single Iron Banner game simply because you're level 30?
Sure, level advantages are enabled, but it still takes a decent amount of skill to win as well.
3) Please explain why Level 25's are able to one shot level 30s, with regular weapons (nonheavy) in IB. Would it have been so hard to use a damage dampening function that ceilings at (opponentMaxHealth-%10) for the sake of making light level ACTUALLY matter? Seriously?
Why? You got shot at close range by a full burst of his 77 Wizard Legendary Fusion Rifle, which is one of the hardest-hitting weapons in the game. The 77 Wizard's Impact stat bar is almost full.
Even if you're a relatively low level Guardian in the Iron Banner, I assume that you would do full damage to a level 30 Guardian if you had a fully upgraded Legendary or Exotic weapon (300 Attack). This is fair, since being level 30 doesn't make you more skilled than a level 29 or even a level 25. It just means that you got lucky with RNG in the Raid.
Bungie also said this.
LEVEL ADVANTAGES ENABLED
Your DEFENSE rating affects how you take damage. Your ATTACK rating affects how you inflict damage.
Lower-level players wielding fully-upgraded weapons should still be considered a very credible threat!
TL;DR
You got hit by a full burst from the 77 Wizard, the Legendary Fusion Rifle with the highest Impact, which was probably fully upgraded, at close range.
Even though you missed horribly with your own Fusion Rifle, with only one or two particles from your own burst barely grazing him, you still took his Health down to the red zone.

Super Awesome Gun has X range. The damage difference between a target standing at X-1 and right in front of your face is 0. This is true in all cases except when spread is an issue. Typically, spread only matters after X. With most fusion rifles (and I use a 77 wiz myself), as long as you ADS, you won't see spread inside your range of X. 2) Impact MEANS ABSOLUTELY -blam!-ING NOTHING IN PVP 3) Did you watch the video? That is not a "miss horribly', that is a blink dodge. This is not the issue being discussed here. 4)
Even if you're a relatively low level Guardian in the Iron Banner, I assume that you would do full damage to a level 30 Guardian if you had a fully upgraded Legendary or Exotic weapon (300 Attack).
This is how I know you have no idea what I'm actually talking about and are just here to hop on a mad cuz bad train. If all pvp dmg is based on the weapon's level, then there is literally no difference in being level 20 and being level 30, since this entire game is about killing people before they can react to kill you. I'd call it an instagib meta, but sometimes you have to shoot 3-4 shots. This is important for a number of reasons: -obtaining gear above level 26 in light level is actually difficult. it is a time sink into rng rom the "hardest content int he game" that cannot be worked around -you are guaranteed to hit light level 26 as long as you actually play this game If the only thing I have to do to be fully competitive with dudes decked out in the hardest gear to obtain IN THE GAME is spend my first vanguard marks on a fusion rifle, upgrade it, and one shot everyone in IB, this game is doomed. To combat this, you know... to give people a reason to actually spend the effort and time to farm light level gear you could have an event, maybe we can call it IRON BANNER, where your light level makes you more powerful than the opponent. Oh my gosh, its almost like, thats exactly what was described by bungie. Except in the current Iron Banner, the only thing that really matters in this near-if-not instagib meta is WEAPON LEVEL, which is hundreds of times easier to farm than LIGHT LEVEL, and is dependent on only ONE piece of gear on your character. IDK how many times I can explain this to you idiots, but I do not expect to win every iron banner match just because I'm 30. I do expect there to be some kind of pvp mode in this game where being level 30 actually makes me HARDER TO KILL by unseasoned (anybody 26 and under) players than being one shot by non-heavy guns of any kind.
