EDIT 6: BUMP FOR BUNGIE!!!!! WHOA WHAT A BUMPY ROAD!!
Edit 7: Story update.***~~~THANK YOU TITANITE THORIAN~~~*** The Black engram drops a clue to a certain exotic item.. Complete a set of specific objectives.
Example: THIS IS A CONCEPT.
> You killed a Praetorian on Venus and he dropped the black engram. Return the tower and once you are there take the engram to the cryptarch and he will give you a clue. This time, you got some sort of map with strange symbols, Cayde-6 can make sense out of this strange map. Once the map is given to Cayde-6, he will provide you with the location the map was pin-pointing to. Because the engram dropped on Venus, the location Cayde-6 found on the map will be on Venus, due to clues from the black engrams being location specific. Also, Cayde-6 deciphered what the symbols are, turns out this map is a guide to a location of a piece of the Super Good Advice exotic Machine Gun.
The location on Venus that cayde found on the map is the Vault of Glass. You must venture into the Vault, once done, Cayde-6 will contact you, notifying you that he deciphered the remaining set of symbols and provide you with instructions that will you to a piece of Super Good Advice hidden within the vault. The objectives this time around is to get a Memory Frame from a Gorgon in order to reveal the location of the exotic weapon piece. After getting the Memory Frame from the Gorgon, a waypoint will appear. It will lead you to the either of the following places:
A) The 4th and 5th chests found in the maze.
B) Random place between Gorgon's Maze and Atheon's Throne room where a chest containing the exotic piece and spirit bloom is located.
Once you find the chest, open it and a piece of Super Good Advice will be yours. Collect 3 more to finish the gun. Sometimes you will get more than one piece, even all of the pieces, and in a very rare chance, the exotic weapon or armor. So you will be needing a couple of Black Engrams in order to collect all exotic pieces, but if extremely lucky, only one engram.
NOTE: Weapon pieces must be taken to the Gunsmith so he can re-assemble the weapon. Armor pieces must be taken to Eva Levante so she can also re-assemble the armor, but since the armors need the light of the traveler in order function, armors need to be taken to the Speaker after being re-assembled by Eva Levante in order for him to "charge and cleanse" the exotic armor.
Edit 8: The final weapon you get is a cursed exotic. You must purify it to unlock its full potential. The weapon is useable but it isn't its most powerful form till fully cleansed.
Edit 9: Wish I could get some bungie feedback.

We had an engram that had a random rarity in it. From green to exotic. It was purple and used to drop with more frequency then purples do now.
-
Looks awesome...(better not give me any blues tho)
-
Thats so cool! You have skills!
-
The Darkness, Charly Murphy's engram. He will stomp his dirty boots on your dinklebot.
-
Looks more like the clear and orange engram to me. Good job though, still.
-
Bump for DeeJ! seems like a neat idea, hope they take this into consideration.
-
It's pretty!
-
Why hasn't someone from bungie commented yet. Give this guy some love for -blam!-s sake
-
Sick!!
-
This would be an awesome Halloween special thing, like on Halloween high level enemies have a small chance of dropping these and they can give you just about anything, from a crappy sparrow to universal remote, even upgrade materials. Great job by the way.
-
I think this is an awesome idea bro and I hope bungie will consider adding this in one of there updates
-
Looks cool, I'd be excited if ine if these dropped for me. It would suck though is like other people have said it turns out to be a white.
-
Um.. that looks cool as -blam!-. It's more of an amber color. I'd totally rock that as a piece of jewelry :)
-
*mind blown*
-
*Sees image* *Brain matter splatters on the walls*
-
If this was in the game, I foresee endless cries of people getting whites from these while their friends get exotics. The forums would turn into.... well.... exactly what they are now, I suppose.
-
That looks sweet. I have an idea to make it more unique though. You "feed" it engrams to satiate it. (You discard them to feed it). The more engrams you "feed" it before decrypting (and the more potent the engram), the better chance at something really rare (maybe even unique). This would make them unique, balanced, and exciting to get.
-
There's no point engram drops are already random so you want to make a random drop to a random drop to redeem for a random item no thanks
-
Looks like an mixed up gem from Infinity Blade
-
I came OMG I love you
-
I love this damn idea!!!!
-
I think it should be a negative engram. Something were you pick it up and lose x-amount of glimmer or loss of all abilities for a short time.
-
Now make it a 3D scale model using unreal engine
-
Looks more crimson to me, but... cool?
-
A little lootdrop I made. Also in Cinema 4D. It took hours to render due to the transparency, but it's just a dumb fun little project. I'd like to see a real black engram dropped though. Would be fun and filled with rage
-
Looks... Orange.
