Just for the record, I still love Destiny. It does not love me. It mocked me last night. I had been playing for about 10 hours trying to level up my secondary character, a Hunter. My primary character bought an exotic helmet engram from Xur which turned out to be an Achlyophage Symbiote (hunter only) which was bugger all use to a Warlock. I ground to reach lvl 20 so I could use it then I ground to reach Vanguard lvl 2 so I could buy legendary armour (my wife is not impressed, her primary & only character is a lvl 24 Hunter & she has been playing since launch but she works full time so the only time she gets to play is weekends when she's at her parents house & when she asks at mine). Just before I got enough bounties to reach lvl 2 I found my first purple engram with this character! Boots no less! Excitedly I raced to the Cryptarch... turned into 3 ascendant shards.
Cluck you Master Rahool, cluck you right in the cluckin' buns until your greedy blue face turns purple like my wasted engram you cluckin' cluck!
Anyone else have any dark tales of cryptarchial shennanigans? Fell free to vent below.

I love the pic of the crypt arch where it says he's colour blind ;-) I actually am needing shards now lol...had over a hundred, but managed to buy 4 Iron Banner armour pieces for two characters...Im sure when I do the Raid again ill get nothing but ascendant materials lol...seems to be the trend now for me.

All too well. Twice ive had purp armour engrams and twice been something I can't use on my character. Although I recently had a purp weapon engram turn to an exotic heavy. Ideal.

5 RepliesSo your mad that an engram gave you more ascendant material than you would normally get from trashing anything that isn't an exotic? They changed the engram system once, and you're going to need those shards at some point so quit crying, and I don't wanna see you back here when you hit 30 and are bored.

I'm with you. I'd prefer actual legendary exotic engrams that turned into exotic items that I could choose to breakdown or keep. The auto shard thing is a bit jarring. Legendary engrams are rare enough. Getting one that decodes into an actual weapon or armor piece is even more so. :/ Let me shard my own gear. Bump.

22 RepliesAscendant anything is great, also, I may be dumb but I just figured out that if you farm like mad and upgrade your defense on the armor your level will raise quickly. Only level 30 gear from raid drops etc... or pvp items if I am not mistaken. I was stuck at level 26 foreverrrr until I figured that shit out.

Awesome pic. Before patch, you had about a 2% chance if a purple being actual gear. Now ascendant material is equally wanted as the gear itself.. either way you at least get your "monies" worth.
