After reading a few threads and comments it's clear that there are a few DoDs that don't play that much Crucible and all of us tend to have limited play time so I decided to try a thread where we could all share tips to help each other.
The first thing is why bother?
Instead of depending on RNG during the raid to get gear that gets you to 30 you can earn rep and buy similar armor from Lord Saladin. I've only seen boots and gauntlets.
Note: Breaking these down does NOT give ascendant materials according to reports
Game Type: Control
On the face of it you may think that the goal is to capture and hold as many control points for as long as possible to win (especially if you played a ton of Halo like me).
In fact, you get more points per kill for each point you control but you can win without controlling points (obviously that's harder).
Strategy Tips
1) My preferred strategy is to cap two points including B and then focus on the paths the opponents will take to get to point.
2) There is no need to camp at a control point you've won since you're just setting yourself up to receive a super and give the opposing team an easy kill.
3) Always toss a grenade at a control point that is being converted before rushing in. The person is confined to a tight area of they want to keep capping it, otherwise they back off and and the capture starts reversing. Beneficial either way.
4) B is almost always the bloodiest battle, especially on Firebase Delphi. Don't stay inside!
5) Feel free to neutralise the third control point but do not capture it. If you capture all 3 then the spawn points flip and the opposing team usually ends up behind your teammates and closer to the least defended point.
Loadout Tips
1) Buy the Tempered Buff before you start. It lasts 12 hours and can be bought twice per day. It will give you bonus XP.
2) Buy and equip the Lvl 1 shader as soon as you can. Additional XP.
3) Buy and equip the emblem as soon as you can. Additional XP.
4) The bounties seem to repeat each day so far so don't abandon one hoping for something different. If you don't have time to play on a day then still login and grab the easiest bounties for you and double up on them the next day. You could do both simultaneously when you do have time.
5) Rockets are cool for instantly clearing out a control point but machine guns can get more kills since the heavy weapon ammo lasts longer.
Crucible Etiquette Note: Wait until at least 1 team mate is near BEFORE grabbing heavy ammo. Everyone nearby can get some when you wait, otherwise you'll be solo and wasted a great opportunity to dominate as a team
6) If you plan to focus on point B that's in a room like on Firebase Delphi then a shotgun+melee will down anyone regardless of rank.
7) A sniper headshot will still kill any rank.
Advice for those newer to Crucible
1) Always always roll with a teammate. Don't worry as much about getting kills as trying not to be cannon fodder. (It seems common sense but in the heat of battle it is easy to want as many kills a possible to not seem like a drag on a team).
Far better to have 4 kills and a 2 K/D than 15 kills and a 0.5 K/D.
2) Don't be afraid to back off from a fight and regain health. Lead them back to your team.
Those are my thoughts so far. I'll close with my typical loadout when I'm not doing the auto rifle bounty:
Primary: Vision of Confluence (Scout rifle)
Secondary: Patience and Time (Sniper rifle)
Heavy: The Swarm (Machine gun)

Save your glimmer! If you want to buy several items, they are all super expensive. Resist the urge to start spending glimmer on upgrading that new Timurs Lash that dropped for you until Tues. I reached rank 5 yesterday and have not been spending any glimmer on upgrades. So far I bought boots, gauntlets, fusion rifle, wolf head emblem and rank 5 shader. All very expensive. I plan to buy the second set of boots and gauntlets since each set benefits auto rifles or scout rifles. There is a Mars mission called Exclusion Zone that drops 9 or 10 yellow guys and you die before killing last one so you can start attacking the enemies over and over. Plus it drops the cabal consumables to get more glimmer from kills.
