They need to do what call of duty did, melee weapons. Shield used to be op because it was paired with an op explosive, take it away and it's a pure objective/skill weapon. Then there's the option to run around with just a knife in a game with guns. If someone tells you it's op, they usually get called out as an imbecile. Melee weapons in a game with guns= skill+tactics with the right amount of reach balance.
