With no signs of Raid matchmaking, the causal gamer such as myself will be leaving soon.
(I know this makes many of you happy)
You see, I am not a great player by any means, and while I'm not mad about leaving destiny, I won't be buying the DLC.
I just got the "charity" boots and gloves from IB. With an exotic chest piece, I have only a helmet to get to 30....
I will not be able to raid without matchmaking, so I wont be getting the raid helmet....If I cant get to 30, why get the DLC
Matchmaking was an oversight, no matter what you say. So its cool, destiny was fun for the most part...but I think in the next 2-3 weeks it will be over and I'll go back to Madden
Just an insight from a more casual fan to Bungie... I know your game is a monetary success, but you are leaving some money on the table with some of us.
I will not be able to raid without matchmaking
Could you explain this please? I'm guessing you have a console, a copy of the game, the internet, any relevant online subscriptions and access to these forums. Would I be correct? Why is it you are unable to achieve what so many of us here, reading this, have done and combine those things to get a pick up group going of people in the same boat? I didn't raid for weeks because I only played with two guys regularly and we were generally miserable bastards. As the weeks went by and the frustration grew I reached out to people on these very forums and they were very accomodating. Since that point my two friends have stopped playing but I still manage to run the Raid, the Nightfall and the Heroic Weekly on all three characters every week. All with just a little bit of effort and patience. I've met a fair few assholes along the way and some downright annoying idiots too but matchmaking is hardly immune from that. I've added friends, removed friends, muted people, blocked comms but in the end I've accomplished my goal. Matchmaking would make the process faster but wouldn't improve your chances of completion one iota. PvP and Strikes have AFKers and they have matchmaking. As it is now if somebody is AFK in a Raid without explanation they generally get booted and either a replacement is found or the team disintegrates. You'd need a vote to kick option for matchmaking which is easily exploited by griefers. I appreciate that matchmaking would make it easier for the casuals to Raid but all you need to get Raiding is already at your disposal. Go to the Recruitment forum and look at the highest rated threads. You should find one for your desired level and console inside 2 minutes and be in a lobby shortly afterwards. There really is nothing stopping you but you.

Destinylfg.net I use it all the time man. So simple and effective
-
Just be social in the tower or on here, be positive and people will invite you
-
If you have people leeching Tiger Strikes nowadays, i bet you will have at least two leechers during a Raid and one during Nightfalls.

Hooray

I was in your shoes not too long ago, and I shared the same opinion on match making. After taking a shot in the dark and looking through the forums, I finally got into a raid group. Now I have people inviting me to raids constantly. Matchmaking is a bad idea for raids. You have to be able to communicate with your teammates, and you don't want to run into people that are just looking for a particular item. In your case this would be a raid helmet. Imagine being in matchmaking and someone gets the item they are looking for early on drops. You are short a member at that point. My suggestion is to use the forums and join a group of people raiding.
-
I was in the matchmaking boat until I spent 5 mins in the forums. Forums make it easy. Matchmaking is bad for the raid, for many reasons related to communication and team work. Someone posted in this thread that he doesn't use a mic and likes matchmaking the strikes and that no one uses mics there. Well, that's a big problem for the raid. Fine for strikes. Not at all for the raid.
-
I agree. Matchmaking is a must. While it might be okay for others to find new people to meet up, i tend not to communicate with people and just want to game and thats where i have spent majority of my time on the strikes. People tend not to have thier mike in anyway, so it doesnt make a difference. On the 360, could send a blanket message to recent players and ask if they wanted to do a weekly/daily but on the xone, it doesnt seem to allow it. Matchmaking is a must on here.

i wish they'd add matchmaking for it and let you toggle it on and off. so you could solo parts if you want (or can) and find new players when you feel like it.
-
Casual me still plays. You're welcome for being proven incorrect.
-
I'm a casual gamer and I'm not going anywhere.
-
I've just done the raid for the first time(not finished it yet, had to stop at Atheon) and I have to say that matchmaking would be horrible, communication is a must! I'm not the most outwardly person, but I've put myself out there to find a group of ppl around my own age(40) that I feel comfortable around, if nobody spoke on the raid then nobody would have a clue what's happening at all.

I am amazed how many of you are ok with going outside the game to party up. Have you ever used a in game party finder? Do you know, really know what it is? Do you all walk around with your phone in your face, texting, posting, socializing? When your at home are you buried in your tablet, laptop, computer? Is this how you meet people? Holy crap. This game was touted as next gen, epic, become legend! Then they leave all the social tools outside the game? Hell, they just added team chat. Amateurs, That's what I think of the Bungie Dev team. I watched the video for the new DLC. I heard something, did you pic up on it? "we heard what the players wanted" " we are listing to what the players want" do you believe that? The expansions, both of them are complete. If not, they are damn close. Tweaked maybe. They did not build this expansion, after listening to our complaints. The final, the third DLC is waiting to be released. They are working on D2. This game fails in my book because it has no social tools, no LFG tools. Gaming 101. A game that needs parties to complete the content, needs a way to find those parties in the game. Fraking amateurs. I wonder what D2 will bring? I don't care, I'm not buying another Bungie or Activision product again. I would LMAO if D2 has a party finder, matchmaking, and a real story. Then I know they were listening, and reading these forums. We should get a 50% discount on D2 if that is the case.

I'm a casual in the same boat, raided numerous times and only ever got the gauntlets, now I've got ib gear and need a raid chest or helm to hit 30. (Maybe a Queen's Wrath event to fill that out?) Charity is a strong choice of word, as you had to work pretty hard to get rank in ib. On a more practical and logical note. Make some friends. I had nobody on Destiny at launch, now my raid team are veterans helping other noobs get their bearings in the hallowed vault. We popped two cherries last week and they got Mad lucky with the drops.
I'll still be here, defending the Light in your stead.
Been playing gta and farcry since release haven't been back to destiny since. Wasn't to pleased from the start. Both games offer a more explained story board with more gameplay online and offline. Especially multiplayer having a more enjoyable Co op experience.
-
Bummer Destiny is losing so many people. I'd like to see a numbers report from them.
-
Lol. Madden says it all...
-
You must have a day off in the next week. Set it aside for the raid. List your guardian on destinylfg.com or .net and wait for the invites. I can't stress how much you're missing out with regards to the raid. Don't listen to the other plebs, you formed a mature enough topic. Ps: You'll probably just get Chatterwhite!

I agree, I fall inbetween what I would call a dedicated casual. When I can I like to pour hours into this game, but when something comes up in real life, yeah I'll put the controller down to take my girlfriend out to dinner, a movie, if a friend wants to hangout, or even if I feel like going out to get some air. I usually only get time during the weekend to play hard core as I call it. Mostly during the week, I'm lucky if I can find an evening where I can play. Most of the time that doesn't coencide with the waves of people playing during the day or raiding. No I don't like trying to catch up with the weekly activities in one day then forced to pout through forums looking for a raid group. So yeah, I've had fun with this game, but I likely won't be signing up for the 10 year haul. Bungie/Acitivision have shown me they only care about making the bottom line dollar. Well they won't be keeping mine, but where I falter someone else will pop up and take my place.
-
I would say also a dedicated casual. I play late at night with some friends of mine when I can and we all have lives, some busier than mine. I don't see us planning to leave because there is no match making. It just requires you to make friends and coordinate. That's not hard. If we have matchmaking for the raid there will be a lot more complaining than a level 30 whining that level 29s ask to join in the hard raid (there's ways 29s can do it - my team had one 30 and we got to the gatekeeper). Or people complaining that everyone is a moron. Honestly this community complains enough, matchmaking will just make it worse, then you will see some casuals and some hardcores disappear just out of frustration.
-
You dumb ass why don't you spend your time looking for players in recruiting posts if you want to do the raid and get to 30 instead of complaining like a little B I T C H !!! I hate people like you F off. That's why this app has recruitment on it that's why they don't need match making you twerp!
-
Jusy got to #recruitment and find a clan?
-
They need to add match making into the raids and weekly missions.
-
If you can only play in between patients your not going to be able to do the raid any ways it takes at least 45 mins with a good group. Good luck with your new game.
