With no signs of Raid matchmaking, the causal gamer such as myself will be leaving soon.
(I know this makes many of you happy)
You see, I am not a great player by any means, and while I'm not mad about leaving destiny, I won't be buying the DLC.
I just got the "charity" boots and gloves from IB. With an exotic chest piece, I have only a helmet to get to 30....
I will not be able to raid without matchmaking, so I wont be getting the raid helmet....If I cant get to 30, why get the DLC
Matchmaking was an oversight, no matter what you say. So its cool, destiny was fun for the most part...but I think in the next 2-3 weeks it will be over and I'll go back to Madden
Just an insight from a more casual fan to Bungie... I know your game is a monetary success, but you are leaving some money on the table with some of us.

Why do you need to be level 30 for the DLC? Level 20 should be plenty to complete all missions and strikes, and level 28 or 29 is probably enough to even run the new raid if you get the opportunity. The DLC has new armor that will get you to lvl 32 and so most likely also has armor to get you to lvl 30. You probably won't get very far if you have raid matchmaking with people who have never been through it before. I'm all for raid matchmaking, but the reality is that you need at least 1 vet that can explain how the raid works and everyone needs to follow instructions or do what they are told. Raids are not like anything else in the game - the entire team will automatically die (wipe) if one person does something that they shouldn't (i.e. not kill an oracle, get seen by a gorgon, drop the relic, etc.). The only way to know what you should or shouldn't do is to have a raid guide or to have been through it before, or at the very least understand all of the mechanics. You could be doing everything perfect and then just drop over dead because of one person - this happens even in experienced groups.
-
Not just casuals are leaving people who invest insane amount of time are too. Who can honestly be a hardcore gamer and be content with this game, it's lacking in so many areas it's kinda sad. I prepaid for DLC so that's when I'll be back but for now I'm having a blast in dragon age.

... madden is awful
-
Best to get exotic helmet instead. Since the Helmet drops off hard raid. And if you haven't had a chance to do the normal. hard will be very hard. I was using the destiny lfg website. Was pretty easy to use. Just request a group and watch some videos on how the basic mechanics work. Don't give up? After doing the raid for first time. Wasn't to hard. Knowing is half the battle :)
-
How can't you raid without matchmaking? You JUST posted something on the forums. Make a post looking for a raid group. Is it really that hard?!
-
I keep seeing a lot of people say matchmaking is a terrible idea because it will reduce fireteam quality and communication. I'd have to say so what? The current system is exclusionary. It takes up a lot more time, effort, and forces out the inexperienced (who then stay that way). This is in exchange for better quality and communicating fireteams needed to complete the raid. So why not both systems? Adding matchmaking doesn't delete the forums or stop you from coordinating it only would deplete the player base using them, mostly those who arent getting much from them anyways. Adding a matchmaking system would come with it's inherent pitfalls but the frustration now isn't I can't get a team to complete a raid it's I can't get a team to even start one in the time we have. What I think most people including me want is matchmaking to save on time. If I intend to complete it I'm happy to use the forum to insure quality, but a lot of the time I would just like to practice or get the first chest at least before the week turns over. Novice raiders would gain experience playing though there's the lower chance of them completing it. So to summarize matchmaking would open the ability to play (not necessarily finish) the raid to many more players and this in turn will help bring more of the player base up to a point where they can raid competently as well as making it so the casual gamer isn't so excluded. The thing I think mainly stopping it is bungie deeming a matchmaking system not productive enough in completing to be worth the money and would frustrate players more. I say no it would satisfy two markets. Players that want to roll the dice and those that want to preplan the raid.

It seems you miscalculated the -blam!- I don't give
-
Seriously *blam* matchmaking for the raid. If any of you actually played WoW you would know that LFR "looking for raid" (or looking for retards) ruined the raiding experience in wow. Do not make the same mistake for destiny. Randoms suck, especially when you're forced to raid with them without the option to kick. Also there would be no communication, I'm already finding that 1/100 people actually use the voice chat in crucible or strikes. This game is dead quiet, so please don't do matchmaking. If you can't get into the raid via forums then you shouldn't be raiding.
-
Who cares if you leave. If you really wanted to raid there are forums to find parties to join. Maybe if you looked harder you'd find them.

I didn't get past the title of this post. It reminds of the time my brother threatened to run away from home, then hid in the garden shed for four hours before coming back in for dinner. It was fish and chips after all!

Dude you come to forum to say you leaving soon, why not go the recruitment section and bang a LFG for VOG up? Everyone I play with I meet on forum or from a clan and we've a grate team that raids most weekends now and have just done the hard raid this weekend gone. Also the new raid will be level 28 and 32 I've read so you can easy be 29 and do new raid Plus the new gear, story and other add ons look awesome. Try get a raid group off here before you go giving up.
-
There's no matchmaking, that's possibly a bad thing, sure; but it also prevents people being forced to play the raid with a group that may not be able to work together at all. What is wrong with people, that prevents them from coming onto these forums to say "Hi guys, I want to do the raid. I don't have enough/any friends to play it with, is there anyone who wants to help me?" Let's face it, if you've come onto these forums to complain, then you should be able to do that also. I'm a casual gamer, but I wouldn't leave Destiny because it has no matchmaking for the raids. If I'm to leave Destiny it's going to be due to the lies and deceptions made by Bungivision and the parts of the game that have yet to be fixed despite them pushing another DLC out in the coming weeks. If you're going to leave, leave for legitimate reasons not a petty one.

Stop b!tchin about raidmatchmaking. There are other ways to find people for raids. But clearly you never even attempted it lookin at your stats. If you did you would realise that raiding with matchmaking really isn't a good idea. Plus you apparently can come on this forum to whine about raid matchmaking, than why can't you go to the recruitment section and find someone? Probably because your to fncking lazy to do so...
-
Relying on forums and clans to find a raid team works, but imagine if we could leverage Bungie's servers to automate finding fireteam members. Oh, wait.
-
Honestly its better with the current format. Because to find a team you have to communicate before the raid even starts so you don't have to worry about getting thrown in with someone with no way to talk, while trying to start opening the door. Making players find their own raid partners meand they are committed to the 1 hour+ raid. Match making would just bring in some kids who just half ass the raid and drop out if they wipe a few times and ruin it for everyone else playing.
-
Why won't you be able to raid w/o MM?
-
Edited by Gary : 11/25/2014 5:18:39 PMactually Destiny has not been the monetary success that had been hoped for. It has fallen far short of expectations. Worse still the reviews were awful so they have struggled since launch to maintain interest, in fact you might notice Bungie stopped talking about player number very very early and many suspect it is because numbers have not held up like they had hoped. I suspect Bungie are sick to the stomach the way things have turned out so far. sales much lower than hoped. reviews poor. huge volume of negative feedback. diminished player base. I also suspect the big push on pvp support is due to the cliff story player numbers fell off . EDIT. A number of replies are suggesting Destiny did really well. All I can say is read the 2014 Q3, take note of the 2013 Q3 situation. The market was not thrilled with results neither were bungie or ATVI

Well, hopefully they can put more focus on the hardcore gamer now?
-
Leaves destiny over matchmaking, and goes to madden. Im done. XD youre just mad youre a noob. You couldnt do what it takes to get a raid helm if youre no good at the game. Lemme just make that clear.

with no signs of ANY f-ucks given, we as a community say BYEE.

You complain 99% of the time and offer offer up a whiny bitch mentality when things don't go your way at every given time. Your 8 year old girl crying nerfs have ruined an otherwise very decent game. Don't go away mad just go away.
-
Bye bye casuals. No more cyring for Nerfs when they are All gone :)
-
If they do matchmaking, i would prefer an option to opt out of it. Some of us like to run the raid with less people for the extra difficulty
-
Just one video explains why there is simply no raid matchmaking, and it also applies to nightfall and weeklies. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ
-
Your just lazy....takes all of 2 min to find a raid team
