"Raid Academy" VOG & CE on Xbox 360

Hey everyone, I am looking to help out new raiders or people who are having trouble finding groups. I'm tired of people not accepting others for the following:
1. Being too young.
2. Being under level 28 for normal, 29 for hard, etc.
3. Never having done the raid.
Here's the deal. I am looking for people who have never done the raid or people who have been denied into the raid because they are under 28. If you are at least 26 (for normal VOG) or 29 (for hard VOG, normal CE, etc.), preferably have a mic, and are willing to take directions, I am looking to help out. This is more of a training thing, so if you are just looking for another completion, try finding one of the other groups. This is to teach proper raid techniques (no pushing off bosses or using class exploits) to newer players or people who just want to get a different perspective on how to do the raid.
On top of running full tutorial raids, I also run specialized technique training. This includes sessions that specifically let you practice with all raid relics, soloing portals in VOG, handling inside/outside of portals on Atheon, successfully running lanterns on CE, etc. These will vary as they come up, but details will always be provided and instructors will demonstrate before you do it so you can see it being done. These will be in a calm environment with the sole purpose of letting you become comfortable with the more specialized "positions" in the raids.
Anytime I do a tutorial raid or specialized practice session, I will first invite anyone who sent me a message on Xbox Live (GT: Shwartznwalder). I am not always available, so it's best to send me a message on XBL. I'll reply letting you know I got the message and that I will save your message to invite you next time I'm doing a session. I will then make a post on this thread stating what type of session I will be doing after I send invites out to all people who message me on XBL, and anyone who sees it that meets the qualifications from earlier in this thread can join. It will be a first come first serve, but I generally do several in a row, so it's usually just a matter of waiting a little while to get in on the next one.
If you don't need a tutorial raid, but like the idea of what we're doing (I normally pull in a helper or two, usually people I met from this very thread), leave a message on this thread and a like. Keeping it at the top will help other players who need it find it.

13 RepliesHey everybody, got something new I want to add to the academy and I'd like your opinions on it. I have done a lot of tutorial raids designed to show newer raiders how to get through the raids, with occasional "advanced techniques" for those that are familiar already, but want to know the best ways to get through. Today I realized something that should have been added to this a while ago. I would like to start having days to teach specific parts of the raids as well as how to use the relics. I always let someone new take the relic to learn how to use it, but that normally excludes anyone else from being able to use and familiarize themselves with it. There are also certain parts of each raid (such as Atheon fight) where people never really get to practice all roles to efficiently deal with the boss. I will begin adding special raid days were the following would happen: 1. Load up a templar checkpoint with three assistants (including myself) and 3 players who have an interest in learning the shield relic. Each person would get a turn learning not only the controls, but how to effectively deal with the harpies, oracles, detainment fields, and dropping the templar's shield. After all aspects are practiced, we would wipe and let the next person handle it until he or she is comfortable with it. 2. Load up a Crota checkpoint and demonstrate the best methods to use the shield for each class. Similar to the templar practice above, they would run the relic and practice timing, get a sense of when to attack Crota, learn placement, and become comfortable consistently damaging Crota without dying or taking damage. Just like with example one, we would wipe once the person felt comfortable and let the next person have there turn. 3. Go into the Atheon fight and have demonstrations of how to handle both the outside and inside of the portals. Although it would be random, we would not put much DPS on Atheon for times vengeance in order to give people several runs inside and outside the portal. On the outside, assistants who don't get ported can show proper technique on how to demolish the supplicants as soon as they spawn (ensuring nobody has to worry about them on a times vengeance), how to determine where the portal team is, and how to properly designate the person who opens the portal (that last one may sound simple, but you'd be surprised at how many groups have multiple people trying to open a portal). On the inside, instructors would demonstrate how to properly deal with enemies so the relic holder either doesn't have to worry about them or only has to worry about a couple weak enemies while also being ready to immediately deal with oracles BEFORE they start spawning. This is invaluable in the hard raid and guarantees successful portal trips. As you can see, rather than my standard tutorial raids that do entire runs with full explanations, but only allows you to play one role, these would allow you to learn the more difficult mechanics in friendly environment with no pressure. We would not be trying to complete the segments; rather, people will be able to practice important and specialized roles at their own pace. Let me know what you think!

I still want to do the relic training, but I'm at the mercy of my ISP. Still send me messages, but I don't think I'll be able to start at 3 at this rate. Hey everyone, I'm going to be doing a few relic training sessions tommorrow. Although I am offline for the night, is recommend sending me a message on XBL to reserve a spot if you want to learn the following: 1. How to use VOG ad CE relics. 2. Best strategies to use as relic holder. 3. General practice under no pressure on efficiently using the relics on small enemies, oracles, and bosses. I will take 3 people per session. I will also invite people who send me messages on XBL first when I start this up tommorrow. Be expecting invites around 3ish central time.
