If you started a new world power...
The World is going to hell in handbasket. We go from public outcry and riots, with the pretense of avenging some thug they never met while ignoring any other situation with reversed racial roles, to spending millions bickering like toddlers in a sandbox over issues that has no affiliation with the common man's struggle. On top of all this we have drugs, r@pe, prostitution, and a laundry list of problems.
So lets say we wiped out a section of the world.
The place is a wasteland, but shows signs of fertile land.
The people are scared, and a cornered dog bites.
The surviving world is looking to this new territory to expand their empire.
And the base of rebuilding this world is you and your loyal crew.
So that begs the question. If you started a new world power, how/what would you do?
[b]Things to consider: (there are way more)[/b]
-Foreign nation relations
-Internal views
--Democracy? Communism?
--Do you allow the press? For all their good and bad?
--What do you focus on and how do you make it important: Art? Science?
--How do you get the people to like you?
-Build. Cities? Farms?
-Technology?
-Crush rebellious opposition
-Unite the People under your banner
-Currency? Jobs?
-Drugs, Drinking, ect.
-Sports?
[b]Special Notes:[/b]
-You get one "super fictional" item. Be it a dome that blocks everything or a death ray that keeps nations at bay. Keep in mind that tools beat a sword anyday. Keep it simple. They can only serve one role!
-The people remember what once was
-Despite all your changes, other countries are the same.
-We will assume that this land is up to you in a fictional location located wherever you want in the world. Be it a second Alaska or in the Bahamas. Keep the weather in mind. Even if the cold never bothered you anyway, your hypothermia would disagree. This could also be an advantage (use your fictional thing to make Antartica warm everywhere you build. This creates and arctic protection).
I will be reviewing your ideas and pointing out flaws and possible problems.

My country would be called Fourtenia. There would be a Direct Democracy with a group of 100 to lead the nation. The group of 100 would be the generals of war, and president. I would be the first president. Everyone would have Equal rights. Everyone between age 18 and age 40 can be drafted into the army. Those who are drafted in would have their families get free food while they are in service, and for the rest if their lives if the soldier dies. We would create a new crop named survivit. The crop could grow in any soil type. The plant would also be very tasty and nutritious. The plant could be used as a way to power electricity because it produces 2 kinds of fruit. One fruit that is edible, the other that when cut releases a lot of energy. We would try to be friendly with the other countries, and would prefer not to so much go to war, but if need be we would. Our top scientists from our universities would design new war weapons to battle the enemy. We would focus much time on science and art. We would also have sports. We would have football/soccer, and hokey, and a new sport. Our arts would include music, sclupture, literature, art, and more. We would have briliant citizens who know a lot about mathematics. Our primary language would be English and we would use the metric system.
