That is most definitely false. I can tell you're not an mmo player. Destiny has mmo elements, though it is in no way massively multiplayer (you can't have mmo without those first 2 words). You cannot craft, or trade. There is one raid, which is basically a glorified level. There is no true character progression, no stat or attribute points--only abilities. Please enlighten me.

  • I'm not talking about the massively multiplayer elements, don't correct me on that again because I've said it twice now. The mechanics ARE the same as most MMOs that isn't up for debate. The game lacks the depth and features that you may find in most MMOs and I'd agree that it is shallow in that regard but the biggest gripes I tend to see repeated are gripes that people have with the MMO mechanics rather than Destiny specifically.

  • The mechanics don't bother me at all--mmo-like, or not. It's the lack of versatility which causes Destiny to fall far short of most MMO Alpha releases.

  • No, the mechanics are inarguably FPS. Steps for Destiny: 1. See enemy 2. Shoot enemy 3 repeat steps 1-2. How the hell is that remotely close to mmo?

Destiny is nothing like an MMO, but the mission mechanics are comparable to that of Borderlands and World of Warcraft. Borderlands is essentially WoW without the MMO. MMOs would be great if they weren't just WoW reskins. Destiny's online is comparable to that of Red Dead Redemption/ GTA 4/5, which isn't a bad thing. The point is there isn't much to do in Destiny. Ok if you scrutinise the FPS mechanics only, the stredgies you employ are exactly that of which @Hooshrdady mentioned. 1. See enemy 2. Shoot enemy 3 repeat steps 1-2. Boring and repetitive. I would play Destiny if at least there was actually a story to follow, but I'm struggling to find one. Also, where did Marty O'Donnell go?
