Yeah, that problem. You can buy the material but trading it in for Crucible Marks has been removed.
Factions are now just -blam!-ed for PVE players.

Just try pvp. Don't get disheartened. I hate pvp in Destiny because of lag. So this is what I did: played 1 control, way too laggy. Played 1 deathmatch, way laggy. Played one rumble, way laggy!!! Finally unlocked skirmish... No lag. Only six players, 3v3. Only fun. Trust me, I hated Destiny pvp. Would look to other games for pvp fun. But that skirmish tho. Dayum

Edited by JD: 12/1/2014 9:11:26 PMSo if you don't play pvp why the hell do you need to trade in material for crucible rep?
-
so you can buy a weapon other than the crap version of the Shadow Price and the Dr. Nope BB gun
-
EXACTLY
-
Hey let's trade in 50 materials for 5 marks lmfao -blam!- that. What a rip off. You can finish one pvp match for 5-7 marks in a quarter of the time it would take to get those materials.
-
It's more of a you need crucuble marks for factions thing.
-
So that you have more armour options to choose from. Some gamers like having options. Not everyone does the Raid or owns every single exotic armour in the game. I had to buy all my armour pieces from the Warlock Vanguard mentor. Buying faction gear or Crucible armour was an option by exchanging materials for marks but now that is gone I'm stuck with my gear forever.
-
But it's waaaaaay quicker to play one pvp match and get 5 marks then farming 50 materials and trading it in for only 5 marks. That makes no sense to me at all why someone would do that. That's probably why they got rid of it because nobody did.
-
Farming 50 materials is a lot more fun than playing a PvP match ;)
-
Don't do PVP at all, EVER.
-
So uhm that's what the vanguard vendor is for. Why do you want crucible gear then?
-
Edited by Seraph: 12/1/2014 10:22:45 PMBecause after almost 4 months of gameplay I'm tired of how my chest piece that I bought from the Iorka Ray looks. I could buy the other one that she has on offer but it does not have stats that I need for PVE. The other alternative chest pieces that have stats in Intelligence and Discipline all require Crucible Marks. That was an option in the past but now it's off the table forever so I'm stuck with what I have for life.
-
I think so that they can purchase weapons and gear from Crucible and Faction vendors.
-
Trading in farmed materials at the crucible or vanguard vendor gave you REPUTATION not marks.
-
Wrong. 5 Marks per 50 units turned-in.
-
Yea that's horrible. I can get 7 marks in one pvp match.
-
Edited by Red Frog: 12/1/2014 9:49:20 PMTrading in farmed materials at the vendors gave you MARKS and also rep. Nobody cares about the rep, it's the marks that were important.
-
Edited by JD: 12/1/2014 10:03:01 PMJust figured that out yea 5 marks for 50 materials is awful. You can get 5-7 marks in one pvp patch in a quarter of the time it would take you to get 50 materials and if you don't like pvp just buy the vanguard armor. They prob got rid of that exchange because nobody did it. That's a rip off 50 material for 5 marks I would never do that.
-
Sometimes I'd have like 200+ material and not have a weapon or armor need that material so I'd trade it in. Especially if I just needed another 10-15 marks to buy something.
