I think the reason they did this was to avoid having players spend all of their vanguard marks and converting them over to crucible marks by reselling the materials they buy....I personally don't see why that would be such a big deal but who knows.

But, the cap makes that pretty pointless doesn't it, and really... If that is what they're doing, I guess I don't see anything wrong with it anyway. Why is that an invalid way of leveling up or whatever your goal would be? It still would take time to do.
-
I was just thinking the same thing. We all know there are people who could and would exploit the shit out of cashing in marks for materials then sell them back to the vanguard for crucible marks.
-
I don't play alot of PVP so I miss out on some of the weapons from different factions unless I get them from nightfall or package drops, i think if they just made it possible to spend either mark on the weapons it would alleviate all of that and also give us something to spend our vanguard marks on......I end up with a surplus of vanguard marks because I have nothing else to buy with them now except for upgrade materials.
-
I totally agree. Me too man.
-
So? How is that exploiting if they're getting diminished returns anyway?
-
I don't really mean "exploit". Maybe that's a bad word to use in this context. I just meant people could endlessly trade marks for mats, then mats for crucible marks and so on. I wouldn't mind it, but I can see how it would bother the almighty bungie brigade.
-
That's what I mean, there shouldn't be a problem with it but seeing as how they patch some other stuff I am guessing they are using it as a way to try and get players into pvp? That is my only thought about it or maybe they didn't realize that they did it? i don't see what the difference would be from grinding for mats and trading them in for crucible marks and buying mats and trading them for crucible marks at a crappy return rate.

It is nice for those who play PVP though, now they don't have to grind for materials to upgrade their weapons.
