Im really disappointed in this change, im sure there wasn't a mention of the removal of mats > marks in the notes. I log in, go to check it out and realize its gone. I now have around 1500 mats sitting around and more on the way with the new ways of getting them, which I do every day on 3 toons. So, I just destroy them?
I don't hugely enjoy PVP, didn't realize you HAD to do it. Its not like the gear that's purchased with Crucible has any PVP stats, its just gear with different stat allocation with no extra PVP benefit. So all the people that wanted faction gear, for what ever reasons and that don't like PVP will now be forced to either not play or AFK through Crucible, nice.
I do enjoy PVE, don't get to raid much or do the weeklies each week but I do the daily bounties, public event and just enjoy running around trying new weapons and blowing things away. Doing this on 3 toons nearly gets me maxed Vanguard. I do strikes and enjoy them to make the difference up. While out in the world I made a point of getting chests and mats, now the only possible reason to do so is hoping to get the chests that give blue engrams.
I realize there may have been a worry about people swapping Vanguard > Crucible and getting the rep. Ive done it. Think its how I got the majority of the 2 levels of Crucible faction. But again, who cares? Not like the weapons/armor have anything PVP special about them, just gives some more choice. I have all the Vanguard weapons I need, nearly all the armor I need on all 3 toons. I suppose with the new DLC coming out that may change as the Vanguard vendors get new gear.
In short even though its a small change that a lot of people might not see the issue with it causes a whole lot of problems by removing a lot of the choice people have in what gear they get and how they play the game. I imagine it will cut my play time by at least half, proberly more.
Hope this was just a mistake...
