Best Recording Hardware/Software

I would really like to start recording my xbox one gaming footage and do some editing. I know how to use adobe after effects, because I edited before, but I've never used gaming material. There is a lot of hardware and software on the market and I don't really know what to use. What do you guys use for recording/editing your gaming material?

  • Most people go with what works well either ElgatoHD60 or a Hauppauge HDPVR2, I use a Hauppauge but I am going to upgrade to the Elgato because it records in 60fps. Software is up to you really most everyone uses either sony vegas or adobe premier. The hardest part of recording is getting the chat audio to record I use an Astro A4 headset because the mix amp has a chat/game audio stream that I can select in the hauppauge software. Also an external hard drive is really handy to store the saved raw footage because the file sizes and get quite large depending on how long you are recording. There is also a ton of setup videos for recording on your tube so you should be able to get more answers there if you need them.
