I hardly see the logic behind being able to buy crucible marks with materials anyway. It takes way longer and is boring.
Bungie only changed it because they looked at the numbers and saw people were not using it as much as they would if it was flipped, marks for materials.

Crucible is boring and unfun for some PvE players.

Issue is, farming is the same for MORE players...

You can eliminate necessary farming without taking away a mat for mark option.

Exactly, the option they removed forced no one to do anything they didn't like doing. Just seems like they are jealous we had a way to by legendary gear from 4 vendors without PvP. Now they gained one of the worst Destiny PvP players by choice. Glad this new option is so appealing to the haters. Next the PvP whiners will post how Bungie needs to ban bad players. Can't wait for IB 3.0.
