Hello all!
First i would like to start by stating that i love this game. I was a fan of Halo years ago but because owning Playstations for the last several years, haven't been able to play Halo since #2. I got hooked on Destiny the same way i did Halo all those years ago.
Now that is out of the way, i had played for many hours trying to rank up to level 20, because while going through story, running scouting missions, and so on, i noticed to get the nicer looking armor and better weapons you need level 20. Well i finally did it. Yay me. But i discovered that i also need "marks" of varying kinds. Crucible, and Vangard marks.
However, i am still confused, maybe i'm an older stupid fuddy duddy or what ever reason i don't know how to obtain these "marks".
It seems the only way to earn the Crucible marks is by playing the multi-player, obviously, but I SUCK. Other players are shooting fireballs out of their eye balls and crapping lightning bolts from their rear ends and in one hit i die. They also seem to have some sort of force field...so i seriously need to improve my character to compete. I play matches, but i don't earn these "marks".
What am i doing wrong? I don't seem to get "marks". I do get "reputation". But that doesn't buy weapons and armor.
I also have a ridiculous amount of materials i scavenged from hours out in the wilderness.
I have read some folks dislike the "farming" but i enjoy the aspect of the game where i can explore out on my own in the wilderness hunting Fallen and Hive and enjoying the scenery and searching all the nooks and crannies.
I am terrible at the multi-player aspect. But it is neccessary. And it is fun.
Can someone explain to me steps i need to take to earn "marks" so i can buy better weapons and armor from Crucible, Future War Cult, Dead Orbit, and New Monarchy?
What do i do with all the spinmetal and other materials i have?
Thanks for reading my ramblings. I am hoping to get some help so i can continue to enjoy the game and get my character on a more even level with others.

Last thing to add, multiplayer is necessary for some exotic bounties and getting some legendary equipment. Its a pain in the ass especially when 2 or more people on the other team are holding Suros Regimes or the last word but just learn to use that wonderful radar and time your shots.
