It could be worse by not even having that option! It could be worse by just having to get new exotics and rendering the current ones obsolete. At least we can carry the current ones to the new level, and guess what? It's going to happen again with the next DLC! Didn't you already anticipate this happening? It was in the back of my mind the whole the time! We all knew this was going to happen people! Just work on them one at a time. What sucks is the current raid gear being rendered obsolete, but let's be honest, once we get the new gear we will concentrate on that, not a big deal. Use what you have now to accomplish the end game... Which is new gear, new exotics, and new weapons. Get those, level the living crap out if them, then work on your old exotics. Have fun with the new DLC and don't let little details like these piss you off to the point of quitting. It sucks I know... Especially when you've put all this time into leveling that shiz up, you've come to develop an attachment to your gear. But just let it go man, get excited! New raid suckas! New swag! I'm so stoked!
