There's some decent feedback in that thread, particularly those pointing out that Bungie are kind of MMO newbs, and are kind of ignoring 15 years of gear - grind history in online gaming when making changes. The really short release cycles aren't helping them. They don't have time to properly consider, communicate, and evaluate what they are implementing. This is why nearly every fix and patch has blown up in their faces some. The bottom line regarding this gear change for me personally is this: I'm kind of glad I can't play the game right now. Why? Because I feel like I would have wasted a lot of time if I had been playing recently. Making people glad they aren't playing your game seems like the opposite of what you want.
