Fixing the universal remote.

I had a very deep and interesting discussion with a friend last night about class balance and exotic gear balance. One of the things we focused on the most was how to make certain exotics better. The most recent patch helped a lot of exotics. But some of those still need more updates and some others need major fixes. Today i'll be covering the universal remote. For those that are unaware Its a standard pump action shotgun that goes in the primary slot. It leaves it's user in a unique and frustrating position. If you run it with a sniper your mid range suffers. If you run it and a fusion rifle your long range suffers. It's only honestly usable in pvp as of now and even then it's still not that great. So here is what I prepose we do in order to make this exotic an...exotic. Firstly! We bring it's base impact up. If you have the gun I'd implore you to look where the bare for your rate of fire is. It's about a 4th of the whole bar. I'd say that's where we put the base impact. As it stands it has the lowest impact of any shotgun in the game. Next the barrel modifiers should add more range+ impact at the cost of more recoil or more impact but less range or more range but less impact. Next we change it's special perk. As it stands it's special perk increases it's range and precision weapon damage. The range increase is nice. So we should keep that and increase it. We should scrap the precision damage. If this was a shotgun that fired a slug round (a single pellet but much bigger) the precision damage would matter. But since this thing fires a spread of pellets instead aiming for the crit spot on most enemies is just going to be wasting potential damage. So instead of having extra precision damage we increase it's maximum damage drop off distance by a good amount. That way you do more damage overall at a longer distance. Lastly we increase it's reserve ammo and clip size. If it's your primary it needs more. Plain and simple. So If we take all of my changes into consideration we basically get a shotgun that can do better damage (respectable damage) at range. Farther then any other shotgun to be accurate. This would be enough to make it usable in medium and close range. Which is not OP because the ROF is slow enough to kill you in pvp if you don't land a kill shot. It's not spammable. Not to mention because it's an exotic AND a primary they end up sacrificing quite a bit just to have a damn good shotgun. Anyway that's just my opinion. They could always just do an easy fix and make it fire slugs when ADS and it would probably be alright then.

  • I think all they need to do is take off the shotgun range nerf for this particular weapon. It's own grimoire card says it should have the range of a precision rifle.
