With The Dark Below being released, and with the new level 30 raid being the new goal, there are some tips that I would like to give to the Light Ascended Raid Team as well as all others who plan to do the raid in the near future. This is some general knowledge, as well as some in depth analysis as this raid is much different from the Vault of Glass.
Here are some things to consider:
- The raid will begin an level 30, meaning that enemies will be very difficult to kill. Any light level below 30 will do a substantially less amount of damage, as well as taking more damage. If you are a level 29 thinking of attempting Crota's End, think long and hard and make sure you equip yourselves with the right weapons and gear.
- In The Dark Below teaser, it was mentioned that "Only a true weapon of the light can destroy him" (Crota's). This may be referring to the Vex Mythoclast as speculated by countless others so if you have it, make sure that the Mythoclast is with you when you do the raid.
- This raid is based on the elimination of Crota, a god of the Hive. This also means that the enemies will also be hive. Take into account what kind of weapons you will need to eliminate each type of enemy. Also be sure to make sure your subclass is designed to help out in situations. I will go in depth on recommended weapons and subclasses.
- Have in mind that the first completion of the level 26 Vault of Glass took 12+ hours, so you may not even complete the raid on your first try. Be patient and know that IT WILL TAKE TIME. You need to keep this in mind and be aware that you are not going to blaze through the raid. Be calm and focused, it gives you the best chance to help your team and ultimately complete the raid.
Recommended Weapons:
Primary Weapons:
- Vision of Confluence (Solar Scout Rifle)
- Fatebringer (Arc Hand Cannon)
- The Devil You Know (Hand Cannon)
- Suros Regime (Auto Rifle)
Special Weapons:
- Icebreaker (Solar Sniper Rifle)
- Patience and Time (Arc Sniper Rifle)
- Plan C (Arc Fusion Rifle)
- Pocket Infinity (Solar Fusion Rifle)
- Any Solar or Arc Legendary Sniper Rifle
- Any Solar or Arc Legendary Fusion Rifle
Heavy Weapons:
- Gjallarhorn (Solar Rocket Launcher)
- Thunderlord (Arc Heavy Machine Gun)
- Super Good Advice (Solar Heavy Machine Gun)
- Any Solar or Arc Legendary Rocket Launcher
- Any Solar or Arc Legendary Heavy Machine Gun
Subclasses:
Titan:
- Striker
- Good for Arc damage grenades, and Fist of Havoc if you are being overrun with a large amount of enemies
- Defender (Recommended)
- Great for providing cover and giving either the Weapons of Light or the Blessing of Light
Hunter:
- Bladedancer
- Good for Arc grenades and getting out of tight situations. Arc blade is not recommended as you need to get close to kill enemies, increasing your chance of dying
- Gunslinger (Recommended)
- Great for Solar and Tripmine grenades and Golden Gun over penetration can help out tremendously, being able to keep a distance is key
Warlock:
- Voidwalker
- Good for Nova Bomb clearing out multiple enemies at one time, but other than that not really useful
- Sunsinger (Recommended)
- Fusion grenades are very powerful and the ability to resurrect yourself is so powerful, definitely a must have in a raid
My Recommendations:
Primary Weapons:
- I would go with Fatebringer, Vision of Confluence, or the Vex Mythoclast due to their Arc and Solar damage
Secondary Weapons:
- I would have Plan C, Patience and Time, Icebreaker, or any Legendary Sniper Rifle or Fusion Rifle. Sniper Rifle for long range, Fusion Rifle for close range.
Heavy Weapons:
- I would go with Gjallarhorn, Super Good Advice, Thunderlord, or any Legendary Heavy Machine Gun.
Reasons: You need to know that Knights will have Arc shields and Wizards will have Solar shields. Heavy Machine guns are extremely good at taking out shields, so I recommend them for that sole purpose. Sniper Rifles and Fusion rifles are also great for dropping enemy shields, and personally I think Fusion Rifles are extremely underrated. Make sure they are in your inventory. Vision of Confluence and Fatebringer are the top 2 primary weapons if you need to use an exotic Special or Heavy. Save the Mythiclast for Crota, I have a feeling it will come in handy.
Take all these things into consideration when deciding what you are going to roll with. I wish all of you the best of luck. Crota, we are coming for you.
