I'm going to be curious how their expansion sales will be post expansion II. I think many people bought into the vision and put faith into this product blindly trusting Bungie's track record. I know I did. Destiny has a lot going for it but it is dripping of missed potential. I think we'll begin to see that reaction after expansion II. Expansion....I hate they use that word. It is DLC. The term expansion has been defined by MANY video game companies through actions and has far more content than Crota's End. Dragon Age Awakening was expansion. Skyrim Dawnguard was expansion (and cheaper too). This is $5-10 DLC. I don't hate Destiny. In fact, I play the world SEEING the possibilities. I can tell there was vision here. The game mechanics impress me. The graphics (on PS4) impress me. The design impresses me. I'm not all doom and gloom. The business model depresses me. The lack of follow through depresses me. The lack of content depresses me. It can be difficult seeing so much amazing potential being lost and wondering how it happened. I wish the ultimate defenders would recognize that criticism does not mean people hate the game. In fact, most of t he time people are as passionate about it because it's the opposite. It's people hoping someone will listen. It may be folly...but there are many like you and I that want to see this game reach the vision and help the developers. I want to be proven wrong more than anything. I want to be pwned by the development team and be proven wrong. I hope someday that I am.

  • You are right, sir! This game isn't done and not even close to being what it should've been. But to me it's well worth the money I've spent, including the DLC. Thanks to Destiny PSPLUS means something, thanks to Destiny I've made a lot of new friends on the console and thanks to Destiny I enjoy a shooter on a Console. Add that to the game itself, in it's imperfect way, and it's money well spent. I have no doubt the game will get any better in the future. But Bungie has to be smart. They are the only one with this kind of game. The mix between Online FPS and RPG is rare, especially on the consoles. They have to use this to their advantage and grow, experiment with us. Adding more story will also suck in more people. The only games Destiny will have to be scared off will be The Division and Planetside 2. And the latter is a free 2 play game MMO FPS with Levels and rank ups.

  • Personally, I found the game had its issues, but even with the amount of content it had, i was still having fun. That is, until I learned that all the hours I had put in thinking I was progressing and getting ready for the expansion all went down the drain. Why the hell would people today be motivated to run VoG, the gear is worse than tower gear! And also raising the cap for daily, weekly and nightfall really sucks. They should've just added another tier or something else...and the nail in the coffin...upgrading exotics will reset all progress made...if that's what's gonna happen every release, y bother playing..

  • The exotic reset really was too much in my opinion. In terms of VOG only reason to run it now is for shards and shot at mythoclast

  • I'm often defending against whining and vitriol. Constructive criticism is lacking from most complaints.

  • Only for those who have the time and friends to play such content. There are those of us who enjoy the story and PvP. It would seem that Bungie has forgotten us.

  • very well summarized if destiny was current gen exclusive (so it can actually use that extra power for gameplay) and would just release a £20 expansion each year (to ensure quantity/quality of new content) with roughly 50% of the vanilla game content each time with the content amount snowballing as more and more is added each year destiny could be an unstoppable franchise

  • Skyrim is a good comparison. The Skyrim dlc content was literally a whole new game. The Destiny expansion feels more like an 'event' ... let's hope they don't close it down after a week.

  • I'd say Oblivion is more apt. Because I played all of Skyrim's add-ons and none of them were even close to that large. Shivering Isle's was essentially an entire game, not as large as Oblivion of course, but it could be considered.

  • The Dragon Born DLC was a whole Island and the quests were easily as long as Shivering Isles. But yeah, the Oblivion add ons were huge!

Well, add-on. Shivering Isle's has been the only expansion in the Elder Scrolls since Blood Moon on Morrowind (I think that was the expansion's name). Knight's of The Nine was a good DLC though, not very long, and quite linear, but enjoyable none the less.

  • Yeah. That's taking me back to the good old days. I absolutely loved oblivion. My friend had it on Xbox. I bought an Xbox just to play it! They know how to tell a story and include loads of content. Totally epic!

In terms of Story, and how well it is executed in game, I wouldn't even place Destiny in the same category. Destiny is more like Elder Scrolls Online, really. Even so, that game had an ending that had a clear conclusion, so I'm not even sure there. Though, Zenimax had the audacity to sell the game separate from the subscription, so you had to pay $60 at launch, and pay $15 a month along with that. ESO has also been out for about 7 or 8 months now, and there's only been one expansion, only end game content though.
