I like the part where people are paying for something they already paid for...DLC was on the disc the whole time. Criminal to the highest degree.

  • Thats because most people act like sheeps and follow the hurde. They buy anything with the destiny logo on it.

  • Capcom did that with Street Fighter X Tekken and eventually the ball of negativity surrounding Disc Locked Content whipped up by that storm was too much and the game totally died. Now Capcom are struggling financially and had to make one of their biggest releases Street Fighter V exclusive to Playstation to help them out of their sticky situation. Worst short term solution ever though as thats a lot of Xbox sales thrown away. I just hope Bungie really do something about their atrocious business model for this game because people are not going to keep supporting them with such small yet expensive content which is already on the disc. DLC is supposed to offer something new and so far this does but not in the right ways and not enough of it compared to the amount it recycles for the price they and Activision are charging.

Not defending Bungie here, but technically, that's not true. The update a couple of weeks back, the 2.4GB one? That was a lot of the DLC itself. I know you're angry at Bungie, but spreading misinformation doesn't get anyone anywhere. Edit: Corrected.

  • Sorry mate but you're the one who is spreading misinformation or is misinformed. Those area's from dlc have been accessible since alpha and beta

  • I agree and disagree with both of you. Those areas have been accessible, but it was a empty shell. The content wasnt in it.

  • Those specific places? The one area, Rasputin's area? Crota's End? I know there's two, that placeholder for the House of Wolves, and the other, the Citadel, Terminus, I believe. But those are not in this DLC as far as I can see.

  • Seraphim vault, jovian complex, kings watch are accessible since alpha and beta. Not the legit way, but people have been glitching into these areas during the alpha and beta of this game. They were accessible since destiny's launch in the full game. The area with the second strike on ps is accessible since launch of retail version, it was probably there during the beta but since that was limited to earth not way for anyone to enter it. Kings watch even has enemies with the mini boss, had them in alpha and beta and still has them. Guess what it will be unlocked to us with house of wolves dlc in march 2015 as a new dlc. Other area's on venus and mars are also accessible since the launch of the game. Some of those area's even have dead ghosts which can be picked up mate.

Hm, just watched a video of the Seraphim Vault on the beta, and behold it is there in most of its current form. If I had to guess, I'd say the missions are (at least until The House of Wolves) already done. But, the update was 2.4GB, that had to be something, I'd say it was probably the cinematic, the gear and the raid, as well as the sound files. So while I was slightly misinformed, I wouldn't say I was completely.

  • You're right, I guess that update contained the gear and weapons because we got around 200 pieces of gear and weapons. Add the sound files, necessary fixes and adaptations and you will be close to 2.4gb

  • If that's all the DLC's will have to offer, then I probably will not be purchasing them. But I am looking at the areas which are out now, I want to see the comparisons, if they are truly placeholders or not.

  • This is because the game is put on a central server at Bungie which we can all access, so when they are shaping environments to add in for new content it shows up on our game, this does not mean the content was on the disc or that the content was finished, it just means that it appears on our game. Seriously, this has been discussed a ton, not sure how you guys don't understand this yet.

  • yes there is nothing on our discs, nothing! its all on the server! do you even understand how host and client work? if we didnt have the information the server has do you really think it would work? your theory implies we are constantly downloading more than just netcode. and sure, the dlc was under constrution so we literally saw the bricks being placed one by one. are you -blam!-ing kidding me?

  • I know about all the "secret" areas, it's all shit being worked on, I'm sure some of it was finished pre-release, but that's the way the video game business operates now a days, just because there are fully mapped out areas that you can access in no way means they are on you disc, this game is run off of bungie's servers, most of the content is on those servers, not on your disc, again, not that hard to understand.

  • Since you're aware of the secret areas you're also aware about data mining, that all that stuff is found to be ON our discs? That and much more.

  • It is not on your disc . disconnect your console from the internet and see how far you get in the game maybe then you will realize its not your disc your disc is simply a key to access the destiny server.

  • I'm not arguing with you man, I'm just saying that a lot of the content data mined was not on the disc, as it was data mined before the game came out, off the Bungie servers.

Are you talking about the update containing the DLC (or most of it) that they added a couple weeks back? I was not aware of the game being server side in terms of content, I'm sure I would have heard that somewhere...

Doubtful, gear wouldn't take up a lot of bytes. As for the video? I'd say, given the length, maybe about 150-200MB's? Gear, maybe... In total, about 400-500MB's? Know that I only have experience with this because I mod Skyrim (others too, but this game is the most prominent), and a lot of the mods on that game are not often as highly compressed as the content here. So, my knowledge is really quite limited, but those estimates should be relative in some way, perhaps not completely accurate, but it is just an educated guess.
