Hmm lets see.... what can i get in the real world for 20 bucks? a couple pizzas and some wings... dinner for two?... a few cans dip? the sum total of which I will eventually shit out my asshole in less than 24 hours. so yep. I like the DLC Bungie. Keep'em coming. I will buy them and keep playing each DLC far beyond 24 hours from release or until Destiny 2 comes out. Some of us in the community will keep our wallets ready and understand that quantity and quality sometimes dont mix well. well some of us that is... that have a life and income enough to easily support a game system and games. The rest will open their assholes after 24 hours and let it spew because a days salary at wendy's is way to much to pay for this latest release.
In all seriousness. I do hope that Bungie stays on course. Think about where this franchise will be in a year or two. I am rarely one to buy a game at release. This one I did though and honestly I am having trouble keeping up with all you bad asses. I love the game even if its a little repetitive. I still believe that in time, perhaps short time, maybe some newer content will unfold. Bungie has a lot to expand on so I'll be optimistic.

Edited by dee: 12/13/2014 10:25:21 AMWhat can I get for 15 bucks...for example Infamous First Light with about 5 hours of playtime, a new storyline and playable character etc. Your comparison is way off...

Are you seriously comparing game DLC to random stuff you can buy? I mean sure, why stop there? Why don't we all purchase the ultimate collectors edition. It's just $75/$90/$100 bucks. That's like 3 or 4 movies and some popcorn. 2 tanks of gas. One trip to the grocery store. All these poor people up in here. Why not own every console and the best gaming rigs while we're at it. I mean what's a couple thousand here and there. You see the problem with just throwing up arbitrary numbers when comparing what people could be spending their money on doesn't take into account whether or not what they spent their money on is worth it. It could be absolutely free and if the content sucks then it's not above criticism. Being free is a powerful excuse for lack of quality (the classic, "you get what you pay for" reasoning) but free content is still not above reproach (and when there are free to play games giving more content in their updates then Destiny it further salts the wounds). Further, when comparing whether or not $20 is worth it for content you don't compare to random shit you pay for to live. We're talking about video games and thus the comparisons should be to other games and their DLC. While it's great your flaunting your spending habits as if money is of no consequence, other people don't have that luxury and $20 is a lot to spend to people who don't have a lot of disposable income to throw around. Therefore it's important to analyze how much value is gotten for your payment just like people do with any purchase. Christ I remember when this no concept of money argument was being made when DLC barely broke $5 and now it's being made for $20 like it's paying for a f'ing gumball.

Agreeing with you: warframe. Free. More content and something like 20 types of characters instead of 3. In game chat and game finder. It's rediculous. I feel lied to and cheated.

One of the key factors to any good piece of entertainment is the contents' ability to retain value when being replayed. Destiny has little to no replay value, and the DLC is by no means different. Your comparison is flawed as food and games are two wildly different kinds of merchandise that are valued and experienced in completely different ways.
-
Lol the most common complaints I used to see on games was no replay value. Now that it no longer works to your benefit you are changing that stance. #neversatisfied
-
Also, replay has nothing to with a piece of entertainment's value whatsoever in general. The number of great books, films and games that I've not felt any need to re-experience is huge. Sorry to pick at you like this, but the way you presented such blatant fallacies as fact irked.

Movies, games, songs are replayed to death by those that favour them, and the better the quality of the content the more replayed they will be by a larger group of people. Games are exceptionally dependent on this factor. If, for example, Smash Bros was good to play one round and boring to play any further it would not have the fanbase it currently maintains and Nintendo would have given up on it long ago. The worst pieces of entertainment are rarely if ever remade, but best often is.
-
Little to no replay value? That's pretty subjective, the number of lvl 30's out there tells a different story.
-
Mindlessness of certain brands of gamers, false hope for something better at the end of the path, achievement hunters, and completionists are what lead to that result. A small minority, at best, would reach for the highest peaks this game has to offer because they somehow miraculously enjoy the sheer lack of content and story. The long list of reviews, complaints, and the general impression one can gather from the community is that this game is by and large a slap in the face and a kick in the teeth to (would-be) fans of Bungie.
-
Only bungie made far more than $20 for this content. Imagine that they made the lord of the rings movie trilogy for less than the cost of this game, and compare value for dollar.
-
I hope the optimism pays off. I'm not against the game. I'm loving it. Just think it has the potential to be so much better. Let's hope that the future's bright. Quality and quantity don't have to be seen in antithesis. It is possible to have both.
