Think about it this dlc released and everything is more powerful making your current exotics shit well if you upgrade now when the next dlc comes out you'll need to upgrade again getting 3.0 weapons/armor. Therefore I say -blam!- you bungie I'm not upgrading weapons/armor (THAT I ALREADY EARNED/BOUGHT). I'm waiting till the next dlc to upgrade/buy new exotics hopefully by then it won't be so expensive either and the only thing I might upgrade is my helmet so I can get to 32 but that's it I'm not upgrading my weapons to only have to again anyways when your lvl32 I dont think 31 extra "damage" is going to be worth it or make much difference and then only to have the next dlc have exotics at 362 damage (guessing) so you guys shouldn't waste your coins/glimmer except one piece of exotic armor to get to lvl32 or not spend bc crotas end hard mode if you do it bc you'll get to 32 with the raid gear but when the next dlc launches 7coins and 7k glimmer to go from 300damage to 333 (guessing) damage would definitely be worth it
Edit: before any more ppl say it, I hate crucible and won't be playing iron banner

I'm guessing you primarily stick to FPS games and haven't really experienced the evolving world of MMOs. Granted Destiny is not an MMO in a traditional sense but it does carry some elements of one. Now let's take World of Warcraft as an example. Strictly an MMO and you spend days and weeks and yes sometimes months gearing a character all the while fighting amongst your clan mates for who gets what drops during the raids and so on and so forth, only to have an expansion drop and lo and behold the MONTHS you spent farming and raiding are no completely useless because all that fancy gear is replaced by greens. Basically Destiny isn't for you, CoD or battlefield or I don't know whatever FPS games people are playing now that don't require you to actually level up and gear yourself. What you need is an out of the box shooter and that's fine.
