New exotics easier to upgrade....or are they?

Before this new DLC that came out, Bungie said that exotics will take a much shorter time to rank up, this was music to my ears especially when when also told us that we could upgrade our current exotics. So Xur arrived on Friday, and upgraded my Chest, piece, Suros, and the Ice Breaker. I started upgrading the IB and my Chest piece pretty much right away Saturday morning - progression was VERY slow, I didn't notice any change whatsoever, so I stopped upgrading my IB after I traded in about 5/6 bounties and started on my newly acquired Gjallarhorn (this was an exotic I got after the update, so it has the new attack stat, no need to upgrade). Now, after I turned in about 3 bounties on the G.Horn I noticed that it started to upgrade a helluva lot quicker than the IB or any other exotics (armor included), My G.Horn is now 100% maxed out after less than a day of playing with it. Started upgrading it Saturday evening, and by Sunday afternoon it was 100% done. Also, my exotic hunter boots were also maxed out very quickly! So this leads me to believe, any 'new' exotics (one's earned AFTER the DLC new or just new drops with higher attack/defense) benefit from this change to exotics Bungie have mentioned, but any exotics you have acquired before the DLC will NOT benefit, and are still stuck in the old way of upgrading. Has anyone else noticed this, or do you think your old exotics are upgrading as quick as your new ones? Cheers
