Something interesting about the use of "Titanomachy" is that it's similar to the Gigantomachy of Greek mythology, the conflict between the Greek Pantheon and the Giants (sometimes called Titans) for supremacy in the cosmos. From Wikipedia: The most important divine struggle in Greek mythology was the Gigantomachy, the battle fought between the Giants and the Olympian gods for supremacy of the cosmos. It is primarily for this battle that the Giants are known, and its importance to Greek culture is attested by the frequent depiction of the Gigantomachy in Greek art. Now, other than to make it seem like they weren't just copy and pasting world history into their story, why the change? In the Destiny simile, who are the gods, and who are the Giants? And why titanomachy? Were Titans the first guardians, and the locks and hunters came later? Or was it used to refer to humanity as a whole battling the darkness? Interesting stuff either way.
