only idiots buy plasma over LCD and LED...
your a shame to gamers everywhere

Plasmas are more powerful and still look gorgeous. 51" Samsung plasma gaming here.
-
You're* and yes, plasma is old news but I see where this can be an issue to those who haven't upgraded. On the bright side,at least they made a game that's worth playing for extended times!
-
plasma has the best picture hands down. anyone that knows anything about tv's knows this. the only thing close now is 4K. the blacks on a plasma are so good. they make all the other colors pop. i just switched from a plasma to an LED and i so miss my plasma.
-
My LG LED TV is close if not better. i never own a plasma tv but have seen them at friends houses
-
doubt it. i spent over a month looking at tv's before buying my plasma. everytime i went to the store and compared side by side, the plasma won in picture quality. at the time i was under the impression plasma was old tech and was more interested in LED. but i couldn't excuse the fact that plasma look so much better. the big difference will be the brand of tv's your friends have. LG is in the forefront for tv's.
-
i have an LG. i think there was a sony or something. also depending on what store you go to they set up the tv weird sometimes so its hard to tell lol
-
so you think i spent over a month at one single store? not trying to diss your tv in any way. i find it doubtful it will stand up to a comparable plasma. i know this cause i have both and have spent more time than i would care to admit researching before buying one.
-
....what? never even said anything about you spending time researching bro lol i mean its cool and all you defending your choice of a TV just to get that extra shade of black but dont go off on me for something i didnt post lol
-
you said
depending on what store you go to they set up the tv weird sometimes so its hard to tell lol
this led me to believe you implied i spent all my time researching at one store. if that wasn't your meaning then my apologies. i only defend plasmas because i spent so much time looking at tv's side by side at different stores and every time i kept coming back to the plasmas. i was also comparing tv's of the same level to each other. i went into the stored wanting an LED tv and came out with a plasma. because the blacks are so black, it makes the other colors pop so much more. again, i am not saying your tv is bad. i just doubt it looks better than a plasma of comparable specs based on the research i did.
-
lol no i was saying as a general statement that depending on the store the tv's are set up diff(like the color settings/mode) . and #FirstWorldProblems fighting over TV clarity lol
-
i know they do, i have worked at a few A/V stores. and yes to #firstworldproblems.
-
Plasmas used to be the best way to get a deep black which makes everything else look better. That said led's can match plasmas in most cases and led's are also getting better depending on brand. My insignia is pretty garbage in comparison, but my LG I'd put up against any plasma on the market.
-
i just bought a 60" Sharp LED and the blacks are crap compared to my 60" Samsung plasma.
-
Sharp aquos if I remember correctly was supposed to have that super black screen. I never had one but they were crazy expensive iirc. Maybe all sharps aren't the same, but my LG LCD screen is just as nice if not better then my mom's Samsung LED. I really think manufacturer is the key. My next purchase will be a UHD 4k tv, just waiting on price and quality to catch up, I never buy the first run of a new tech. I once bought a 62" DLP tv for like $6K when they were supposed to be the next big thing, it was a great tv and was easy to fix when the bulb burns out every 2 years or so. The plasma wasn't fixable once burned out so I figured it was economical choice, then within a year DLP's were under a grand and now you can hardly find them.
-
i have a sharp aquos. its technically a 3k tv as it has 3 sub-pixels. it up scales to 3k. the blacks aren't close to my Samsung plasma. but i think the worst is the glare. i can't get my room dark enough to counter act it. i decided against 4k because there isn't enough content out yet and there isn't a standard format yet. so that means in a few years your 4k tv may not be compatible with the latest 4k movies/games, ect. i still miss my plasma.
-
So true, remember those first few batches of hdtv before hdmi? They all cost several thousand and were obsolete within a few years of hdmi's release. My old DLP was one of those hdmi-less tv's, the people at the electronic stores used to tell people hdmi won't last because cables were too expensive and it's unneccessary. Now look at the market.
-
as a general rule of thumb, i never buy a "first" of anything. as much as i would like to be the first to have something, it also means i will be the first to have an issue with it. i'd rather wait for others to have the issue, get it fixed and then i will get the product.

Plasmas are on the way out, currently being replaced by OLED, but LCD and LED are no replacement for Plasma. Only an idiot would think so.
-
And it sucks they are being replaced with tv's that don't have the same image quality and depth of color. They are only on the way out because the cost to make them is a lot higher then LCD/led tvs
-
And it sucks they are being replaced with tv's that don't have the same image quality and depth of color. They are only on the way out because the cost to make them is a lot higher then LCD/led tvs ^ this It's a shame that a lot of people don't realise it's down to manufacturers trying to lower costs rather then getting something better.
-
LCD and LED LCD (which is just an LCD panel with an LED backlight as opposed to florescent) both suck. I'm talking about OLED, which is currently the best screen you can buy, especially at 4K resolution. They are not cheap. Not even a little bit. http://www.cnet.com/news/post-4k-oled-tv-where-does-picture-quality-go-from-here/
-
Because it's a new technologie, that's why it's so expensive. Of course its going to look better, its also extremely expensive to purchase
-
Yep... so what was your first response about?
"And it sucks they are being replaced with tv's that don't have the same image quality and depth of color. They are only on the way out because the cost to make them is a lot higher then LCD/led tvs"
OLED is BETTER picture quality, and not cheaper to produce... There was a time when a plasma would cost $10k.
-
And yes at one point Plasmas were 10k but that's not the case right now... So yes you can get a better picture but it will be at a cost of a car payment for the average person. Good luck getting a oled TV in the next 5 years for under 2k.
-
For the most part the main market is buying LCD and LED TVs because a normal person with an average income will not purchase an OleD TV. So for the normal consumer they cannot get a great picture or as good of a picture out of a LCD or LED TV as they would a plasma TV in the same price range.
