Transformers Universe players, I have bad news

Our beloved friends over at Hasbro in their infinite wisdom decided to pull the plug on Transformers Universe. This game, which is still in Beta, will be fully shut down on January 31st, 2015. Server shut down has already begun, and Founders' Pack owners are being refunded. At this time, neither Hasbro nor Jagex have come forward with a reason for this shut down, and I don't we will ever get one. If you can still play, then enjoy every moment of it, because it won't last much longer. Personally, this decision pisses me off to no end. I have eagerly awaited this game since it was announced a couple years back, and when Open Beta arrived, I was overjoyed to finally be able to play the game that I'd waited so long for. I hoped to be able to play alongside my fellow fanfiction writer who lives in Serbia when the game fully released. But thanks to Hasbro, those hopes are dashed.

Only Rockstar should be allowed to create a Earth based Transformers game. When driving around GTA V I keep wanting my car to transform and crawl up the side of a building while Starscream flys overhead. Also Ubisoft making a Predator game is highly acceptable if they rip off their Assassin's Creed Ip to do so. Dream games. Sooo much fun.

      • ever since that rise of the dark spark thing they dared to call a game ive just decided to not hope for anything of any decency when it comes to transformer games. i keep my war and fall of cybertron next to the 25 year anniversary edition of the original movie, and well.. sigh

        • Looks like Jagex could only do Runescape. And FunOrb.

          • Hasbro already became my least favorite company, after what they did to the War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron series. Instead of just letting it become a hallmark of transformer game glory, they tie it in with the Michael Bay films.

            • Despite not enjoying the game at all, I -blam!-ing LOVED Transformers Prime (the TV show that inspired it). It boggles my mind on why it was cancelled. It was better received critically than ANY of the Michael Bay shit. It had Peter Cullen. It made Arcee a certified badass. It only had 1 annoying human character. It had the right amount of humor and dark grittiness that fits the lore. It had StarScream being his usual hilarious self. It had mother-blam!-ing UNICRON. Damn you, Hasbro. Damn you to hell for canning that show. The new Robots in Disguise TV show that they replaced it with looks terrible. The animation looks like shit, the trailer looks like shit, and it looks like it's aiming for the 5-10 age demographic instead of Prime's older demographic. -blam!-. Damn you, Hasbro. Damn you.

              • Shit. It's always sad when devs scrap a game.

It was supposed to be another Java based MMO in the vein of RuneScape, but with a more sci-fi twist on it. That was later canned. Two years after that, Jagex announced they were working on another game called Stellar Dawn. They released concept art and even a trailer for it. I was pretty excited for it. RuneScape was the first video game I got serious in. I was excited Jagex was making something new. Then, that got canned out of the blue. We were all disappointed. But then they announced they were making TFU. A Transformers MMO sounded -blam!-ing awesome, so I started following that. Then..... it all started going down hill. Jagex announced it was switching gears and going from MMO to MOBA. I hated that decision. I really wanted to make my own Transformer, not play as a pre-established one. And then the Alpha came. Oh boy. I was fortunate, or unfortunate enough to get in. What a bloody mess. The game was, in my opinion, abysmal. The lag in-game was dreadful, and I run a pretty mean machine. The community was a barren wasteland, even in Open Beta. The UI was confusing as all hell. Tutorials might as well have been non-existent. Combat was standard TPS mechanics, and were okay but nothing amazing. The most enjoyable aspect of the game was transforming into vehicle mode and driving around the (smallish) map. Honestly, I'm not surprised this is getting the axe. Jagex is in a lot of trouble. They're losing subscriptions FAST for RS, and the population on TFU was nothing to write home about. Jagex is dying, in my opinion. They took a gamble on this, and I don't think it paid off.
