Once in game, use the options menu to set how you'd like your fireteam settings to be, public, friends only, or private. Any given night I usually am grinding out bounties and farming glimmer, spin metal, helium filaments, relic iron, and spirit blooms; as well as whatever engrave and weapons I can get to drop. Always trying to get a better gun and it seems like that's the only way I can find them and level them up. I'm not real big on taking on the level 28 strikes because I can't seem to get kills. Same thing with crucible.. can't get the kills so it's frustrating to play. Anyway.. I usually get on around 8pm EST and stay on until 11ish or when I get tired. So if you need a human shield or a distraction I'm the guy or if you like to grind out bounties jump into my fireteam cause that's what I'll be doing.
